Trump told [Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo] Abe he’s lucky that his country doesn’t have to deal with an influx of migrants, like the U.S. or European countries.

“Shinzo, you don’t have this problem, but I can send you 25 million Mexicans and you’ll be out of office very soon,” Trump said, a senior EU official told the Wall Street Journal.

The comment made others in the room uncomfortable, “but everyone tried to be rational and calm,” the official told the newspaper.

Yeah, it's funny because Japan has extremely restrictive immigration policies and specifically a history of mistreating the Korean immigrants who found it necessary to settle there.

Don't tell The Donald, though. I'd rather he keep making stupid remarks than to seek tips.

I'm getting sick of the Republicans who pretend like they didn't see any of this coming while simultaneously saying stupid shit like that. They've been catering to scumbags like Trump for years now, so it shouldn't come as a surprise when one ends up in the White House

Did he slip up and forget to say "illegals" instead of "Mexicans" since we all know that's what these xenophobic pieces of shit actually have a problem with and not anyone's legal status?

“No nation can have the policy that whole classes of people are immune from immigration law or enforcement,” Miller told the Times in an interview. “It was a simple decision by the administration to have a zero tolerance policy for illegal entry, period. The message is that no one is exempt from immigration law.”

Stephen Miller is a sociopath

@mcaycoppins When I interviewed him, Stephen Miller told me he finds value in generating "constructive controversy with the purpose of enlightenment." To him, the anger and outrage caused by policies like family separation at the border are a feature, not a bug.

going to the border and declaring asylum is literally a part of immigration law and the way you declare yourself.

there is no law that children should be taken away from their parents if they go to the border

All the cronies are out today. Bannon on ABC. KAC on NBC. All defending kids being taken away from their families. Bannon said it's the immigration problems in Europe is the Pope's fault.

The fact these people are on is pretty strong evidence of the pro-trump bias of our media.

Not picking on you here, but it's an obvious post to bring up my point. One would think that americans as a whole, and certainly minorities, would vote this type of government out. But this assumes one big thing, and that's a fair election. I have seen zero sign from Trump or his followers that they aren't willing to openly and emphatically break the law and crush all norms. We also know that the GOP has shown a willingness to go along with all of Trump's crazy authoritarian cult of personality shit. The outcome of the next election will decide not just who is in power for the next 2-6 years, but also who will be investigated for a host of crimes. Given the Trump GOP's willingness to break the law and go against all democratic norms, the desire to stay in power, and their desire to not be thrown in jail, why are we to think they will allow a free election?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they would just call off elections (though I'll be surprised if Trump doesn't float the idea at some point), but I would be very careful with all the machines, voter data, etc. Once the vote is over, there is zero chance that it will be repealed or investigated on any large scale. And like I said, they have every reason to cheat, and no fear of getting caught or facing fall back from their party/voters.

He may be trying to draw Obama into the fray, but he's too cool for that. They spent 8 years convincing the base to hate Obama and Biden. Time to use all that hate. Clinton just doesn't have much juice left and she's kinda irrelevant now.

Republicans have adjusted to the new norm and are coming home to roost. Like I said a few days ago, it's already too late.

We were ripe for an authoritarian swing. He just took advantage. Mueller might be our best chance and I think Trump will just crush either his investigation or the results of his investigation and then just dare everyone to do something. The GOP will do nothing because they feel like they have enough cover with Spygate and the IG report and the ratings are going up. And I really think the elections will be a farce. I hope I'm wrong.
