I didn't read the opinion, not sure if I will since it's long, but I wonder if they addressed the tweet at length.. could go a long way when determining outcomes of other cases like tariffs where his tweets betray his actual authority

I made it just a few paragraphs into the opinion then had to stop before a vein burst. It accepts every transparent effort to paper over the discriminatory nature of the order as sincere and considered.

How do you mean? They never should have published the story, or they botched the court case by backing her?

Investigative journalism is always hard, especially now in the grab-by-pussy era when it's basically impossible to break a story that truly impacts the power structure. Intercept tends to swing its axe in the direction of Nat Sec and military contractors, but those trees are not going to fall easily.

I would have preferred to see it fail, just to administer a slapdown to Agent Orange. But on the outrage scale where caged babies is a 10, this is about a 3.

The next president is going to be very busy undoing Trump's damage.

That's what they said the current guy was going to have to do regarding the previous guy.

Yes, Trump set the precedent and I believe started a vicious cycle that will last for decades.

That's the consequence of doing close to everything by executive order and next to nothing by legislation. But whichever party controls the White House claims that Congress has ceded its legislative authority by not being able to do it and to be candid they are not exactly wrong. Congress has become a body for grandstanding and investigations.

Bloomberg eyeing a 2020 run per local NY outlets. Looks like this might have been covered already on CNN the other day, but it's gaining steam.

Might be nice to have a successful, billionaire businessman to run the country.

The Mid-Continent Nail plant in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, laid off 60 of its 500 workers last week because of increased steel costs. The company blames the 25% tariff on imported steel. Orders for nails plunged 50% after the company raised its prices to deal with higher steel costs. The company is in danger of shutting production by Labor Day unless the Commerce Department grants it an exclusion from paying the tariffs, company spokesman James Glassman told CNN's Poppy Harlow. Mid-Continent Nail is "on the brink of extinction," he said.

Glassman said the company might relocate to Mexico, where it could buy the steel without the tariffs — and then export the finished nails back to the United States without tariffs, which only apply to raw materials. "It's obviously an option," said Glassman about moving to Mexico. "It absolutely is something this company does not want to do. It wants to save the jobs in Poplar Bluff, Missouri."

Poplar Bluff is in Butler County; Trump received 79% of the vote there.
