oh, this was another good part of that piece:

In Nashville, Americans for Prosperity played a major role: organizing door-to-door canvassing teams using iPads running the i360 software. Those in-kind contributions can be difficult to measure. According to A.F.P.’s campaign finance disclosure, the group made only one contribution, of $4,744, to the campaign for “canvassing expenses.”

Instead, a local group, NoTax4Tracks, led the Nashville fund-raising. Nearly three-quarters of the $1.1 million it raised came from a single nonprofit, Nashville Smart Inc., which is not required to disclose donors. The rest of the contributions to NoTax4Tracks came from wealthy local donors, including a local auto dealer.

Both NoTax4Tracks and Nashville Smart declined to fully disclose their funding.

I've been waiting until i was in front of a keyboard to share this.

On Sunday, I preached a sermon that talked about the importance of instilling our kids with self respect, good values, a willingness to help people, and otherwise the need to be good people. I said that we needed to be a good model for them- often we teach them the wrong lessons unintentionally by our own actions.

I weaved in the detention of minors and separating them from their families. I believe this is a message of no compassion for people that have already been through much trying to seek out safety.

In the middle of the sermon, someone started yelling back at me about the "rules". About how the parents are at fault because they are putting their kids in that situation. I let her share her peace, then responded that we can't control what others do, but that we can control what we do. And that if we are following Jesus' example, we should show compassion to the kids. Regardless of how you feel about this, it's not the kids' fault. I think we can all agree that we are innocent.

She started to yell about the rules again. I have never been argued with during a sermon before. But I can't believe that "we should be fair to kids" is a controversial message.

Her dad, who she brought to church, fell and needed to be taken from the hospital. I was kind and stayed with them until they got him on his way. She wouldn't look at me, even as I was holding the wheelchair so that her dad could get in.

This is a human rights issue. It shouldn't be a political issue. But here we are.
Together we will win this game against the evil Space Yankees! Eat Fresh!

cant really imagine public transportation putting a car dealer out of business, but hey.

on the flip side, wouldnt that project attract more people to move to your city which means more people to sell your cars to? not sure in what world the project would allow people to go everywhere they please within the region like you could in new york or some other similar place.

“It’s a role like any other, a coat she puts on when necessary and sheds as soon as she’s done, but she can see it’s working: the men trying for eye contact, checking the cleavage she’s made sure to reveal, allowing just enough bounce in her girls to make it memorable. The women sizing up her entire five-foot-nine-inch frame with envy, from her knee-high chocolate leather boots to her flaming red hair, before checking their husbands to see what they think of the view. She will be memorable, no doubt, the tall, leggy, busty red-head hiding in plain sight.”

President Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Brad Parscale, brashly called Tuesday for the firing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and ending the investigation into Russian election interference led by special counsel Robert Mueller III.

Liked this quote from the New Yorker review:

All of which brings us to another famous William. Bill Clinton, who can write, has hooked up with James Patterson, who can’t, but whose works have sold more than three hundred and seventy-five million copies, most of them to happy and contented customers for whom good writing would only get in the way.

The Times, on the other hand, called it "wildly readable."

I would encourage everyone to listen to Radiolab's three part series on the border.

Paints this really insane picture how we have pushed the immigration paths into the wilderness in hopes it would be a detterant. Instead basically we just caused way more people to die. The whole series lays a pretty good foundation that I think is helpful to understand today's climate.

Just voted for the 1st time in 3 years. Of the 7 offices on the ballot, one had a Republican running. Thriving local party.

Only went to vote to vote against the tipped minimum wage hike on the ballot.

That’s so ironic, they simultaneously can get it and don’t get it about Patterson. People aren’t picking his books up because they want a mental exercise, they want something they can get sandy and they don’t necessarily care nor will thy necessarily remember, but they can finish in a day or two.

I’ve been extra busy lately, so I’ve not been able to pay enough attention, but what is preventing the Democrats from presenting a bill that stops on trumps brown child hostage crisis? I mean if the GOP urinates on it they look like complete assholes. If they move on it and Trump rejected because of no wall, it just doubles down on what a pile of donkey shit he is. So what’s the hold up?
