Really in the mood for some BBQ, but am too lazy to go out and get it. Ordered pizza instead. It'll have to do.

took lyft last night to the trappe. came up with the destination and proper address when i booked on the app. voice navigation took the driver to some side street in royersford. she manually keyed in the address to get me to the right place. Bill comes in at 13 bucks more than quoted. Not sure if i should complain or not. if it costs her money i don't want to complain, because she sure could use it to get her car fixed.

I dunno. $13 is pretty significant. Unless the quoted amount was ridiculously low like $3-4, I might try to recoup some of that. I really have no idea though about any of the distances involved. I also think if you're driving for lyft or uber, you should have at least a basic idea of how to get from place to place.

was quoted $37. The way I would go would be ~16 miles, 33 minutes. The "shorter" way via 476/76/422 is 23 miles, 31 minutes. My junket with the tour of royersford ended up at 46 minutes.

And I've rarely encountered a lyft driver who really knew where they were going. I think that's part of the value prop- no skill or knowledge required.

That seems high, even the quoted price--almost $3 a mile. And can't you advise the driver how to go?

I guess 9PM on a Saturday night is "surge" pricing. The ride home @2AM was $25. I tend to trust Waze/Gmaps myself, so I didn't have any objection when the voice navigation told her to get on 476. But then again I'm not sure if the charge is for mileage or time. If the former I should've definitely opined on the route.

OK mystery solved. Looks like someone added a fake "Trappe Tavern" at their house. I neglected to note the address when I clicked (I thought I did, but apparently not).

Anybody know if there's a way to somehow use a cell phone with an alarm system autodialer? Looking to disconnect fios at my mom's house since nobody is living there now, but I still would like to keep the alarm system active until we get the house sold. I can add another prepaid cell line for like 10 bucks a month.

Our system has it's on cellular unit they installed for us, when we dropped the analog landline for cable VOIP. Might be cheaper just to keep the landline at it's most basic level.

from what i can tell online, fios has no phone-only plans. I think we'd have to re-institute a POTS line and absorb the installation costs. Gonna try this thing today for 34 bucks. If it doesn't work I'll just send it back.

Looks like the alarm company may have a cellular modem available for the panel, too- will ping them if this thing doesn't work.

Doing another Blue Apron trial. The meals always take longer than they say they will but taste delicious

Yeah, we tried Blue Apron and had the same experience. I am pretty efficient in the kitchen and they always took a lot longer than I was willing to do on a weeknight. They do taste good, though.

We use Gobble, now. The meals are also really good and the prep time is only 10-15 minutes. They pre-make some components that take a while to cook, like (rice, polenta, sauces, etc).
