There are no longer ties. It’s a 5 min 3v3 overtime and then a shootout until someone wins. The 11 is shootout/overtime losses and yet they are worth a point.

For all the crap that you hear about electric guitar players being obnoxious in guitar stores, the acoustic guitar players are by far much more obnoxious. They tend to play louder for longer periods of time. Most of the people playing electric guitars keep the volume fairly reasonable, and if they do crank it up, it’s usually only for a minute or two. And there is always—ALWAYS—one or a group of douches who turn the acoustic room into their practice/performance space, and they just HAVE to sing while someone records it. Do you really have to go through your entire shitty open mic night set list? And in 15 years or so of going into these stores, I’ve never once heard anyone in the electric guitars playing “Smoke on the Water” or “Stairway to Heaven” or any of the other songs that apparently are played all the time. At any rate, I bought a new guitar today.
