Guess I wasn't expecting jokes and humor responding to a serious topic.
"I've always thought that the six months during the baseball season there was something in the day that wasn't there the other six months in winter. It was not that you had to listen to the game, but that you could, if you needed it."

Kids at my past two schools use the pencils where you have to add the lead. I hate those things. If you press even a little hard, the lead breaks. The only advantage is not having to sharpen them, but it hardly seems worth all the other hassles of changing the lead and it breaking constantly.

You guys are the ones cyber-bullying because I apparently don't fall in line with the groupthink. Is discourse not allowed in the political threads?

I'm referring to your eagerness to use things like the spoiler tag to purposely try to make another person feel bad about themselves in an interaction with you. It's an antagonistic way to communicate. You're deliberately escalating, instead of deescalating. Sure, it can sometimes be fun to do that when the topic is harmless. Escalating a confrontation with someone who was just threatened in real life... that's not a decision I would make. Even if you don't value a poster's contribution to the board, I want this community of Phillies fans to be a safe place for people to go to. I know that some folks over the years have left because of toxic interactions with users (I've contributed, at times, I'm sure), which is part of the reason that I'm more careful now about what I post. Your posting history is suggestive of someone who doesn't share the same outlook...

This has hardly been toxic but thanks for the analysis of my posting history.

Friend has a kid on an exchange experience in eastern Europe. Had a hard time doing laundry there. His dad got a deal on underwear and shipped 50 pair!

Don't be that Dad btw.

When I was an exchange student in germany, I was embarrassed to have my exchange student's mom wash my underwear so I would wash them in the sink. Then one day I came "home" and all my underwear were hanging on the clothes line in the backyard. I was mortified. That was back when I wore tighty-whities. She thought I was wearing dirty underwear all month and took matters into her own hands, so to speak.

WTF did I read on the last 3 pages?

I was just here to ask when you guys started your kids on swimming and dance and music classes and if they ended up eating your entire weekends for years at a time.

You mean she didn't want to go to the same college where her father teaches?

It would have saved a ton of money, but like many young people, she wants to go away. She is also eager to live in a more urban area. In addition, she's really interested in vocal music, and the program here is in transition.
