I have a lot of strong opinions on this...but what the hell is 2 half days going to accomplish? It's like a setup to get parents to revolt so the school board can be like 'see parents really don't want kids in school!"

We chose to stay virtual but lost our son's teacher. And if a few more kids opt out of hybrid or need to quarantine, they're gonna have to move some virtual students to another school in the district.

Mess.

The school board listened to the parents' feedback and went back to the drawing board. They are now proposing the 2 day in-person, 2 day virtual, one day asynchronous model. Now it looks like the other half of the parents are pissed, but at least there is live learning 4 days a week with this model. It would have been cut in half with the previous model.

We are now deciding if we will send our daughter in or remain virtual.

Any advice on getting a six-year-old to stop pooping/sharting so much? My eldest has some kind of stomach bug (or impact of molars coming in?) and has been wiped raw. Tough scene.

That's going to erode the virtual experience... We're likely to send our kids in. They are good with wearing masks.

Everyone please send your kids in so daycares can have space to enroll babies. Several places around here are basically virtual learning pods being supervised at daycares. It's all so dumb.

I said earlier that we stayed virtual. The school was supposed to start hybrid on Monday the 26th, but at the school board meeting last week they reviewed the metrics and Chester county is still measuring at moderate/high risk so they are postponing the return until we have 2 consecutive weeks of moderate or lower risk based on positive test counts in the county. It’s nuts, and if there are 3 cases in any of our schools they are going to return to virtual for 2 weeks. I’m glad we’ve stayed virtual, it’s not ideal, but at least it is a consistent experience for my kids.

Yeah, just a tough thing to navigate right now.

If we send my daughter back our parents will be uneasy being around the kids, so it's at least one other thing to take into consideration

Did I mention on here that my wife and I decided back in August that the Boyertown school board had their heads up their asses and that we couldn't trust them to make intelligent decisions, and so we pulled our kids out and put them in a cyber charter school? I'm so glad we did... the school board decided/realized like three days before classes were supposed to start that they didn't have the staff (teachers, nurses, custodial, bus drivers, etc.) to actually pull off the hybrid plan they had decided on, so everyone was doing full-time remote learning again. Then a few weeks ago they started doing in-person classes in a hybrid model, and while nothing bad has happened (yet), I've been hearing from other parents that the kids who are remote are getting the short end of the stick. Finally, they're planning to go back to in person full-time starting next week, but... our district straddles Montgomery and Berks, and while Montgomery's numbers have been steady, Berks' have not.

The cyber charter school is not something we would ever have considered absent this pandemic and I still have my misgivings, but it's so nice to have the kids in classes designed from the ground up for online instruction, taught by teachers that have been doing it for years (and by a school - PALCS - that has been doing this since 2004). They'll be doing this for sure through the end of this school year, and then we'll reevaluate. The one daughter with anxiety issues surrounding illness may stay in it through high school, who knows.

That’s great that it’s working out! Probably was a stressful decision so I’m happy it’s gone well!
On a scale of 1 to Chris Brown, how pissed is he?
