We don’t do anything fancy. A little practice and three innings of a game, all t-ball. Is that what you mean?

Commish:
Yep
We started throwing to our kids. So if u want to try with some. That's fine. If not that's fine too
We started with a couple kids in game 3. But now all the kids are doing it. 5 pitches and then to a tee. We go fast and I'll only have 8 there tonight.

What time do u want to start the game? I like to tell my team so that grandparents and people like that don't have to sit around for awhile

Me:
6:15 is fine. I still have kids hitting the tee itself, so we’re going to continue working on that.
Are you doing that the whole game?

Commish:
Yeah. We do it the whole game

It's good to stretch the kids abilities. I have a kid with a serious disability (he won't be there tonight) but he's even hit the ball when pitched.

It's totally ur call when u want to introduce it

Or if u ever even want to

Me:
Got it. See you tonight.

—-

Don’t want to make people sit around, but you’re pitching to 4- and 5-year-olds. The name of this sport is TEE ball.

The oh so blurred line between tee ball and coach pitch... but the quicker they are off the tee, the quicker father's can live vicariously through the kids...
Even if you get run over by a clown car and pissed on by a busload of school children, it's still your responsibility to interpret the meaning of the event and choose a response

Down the shore, my mother just complimented the name, said Werthless's parents must be so excited to have a granddaughter, and then vodka soda commented to my brother and I that'd it would be nice to have any grandkids.

9 grandsons, 1 grandson on the way, and now a granddaughter. Yes, my whole extended family is pretty excited there is a girl now.

I'm so proud of Lil' Vulture. Never much of a sports fan, this year she started watching high school baseball games. To be sure, this was in part because of a boy, but that boy is history (and he wasn't much of a player anyway) and the interest in baseball remains. She's been to a handful of pro games--Arkansas Travellers once or twice, a couple of Phillies games when she was little (including the first BSG meet up--which she said, 'It was more fun than I thought it would be") and a couple of Rangers games.

But she's really become a baseball fan. Like her mom, she's about going to games much more than watching on TV, but that's fine. She's very excited to go to a the Phillies/Nats on Jun 29, and in fact, has chose the Phillies to be her favorite MLB team. So, I consider all this a parenting win. Gonna buy her a hat or jersey or something at the ball park.

oldest is turning 8 tomorrow. great today as his LL team won their playoff game - down 1 run 2 outs last AB and single, stolen base, single (tied game), stolen base, single (moved runner to third), single to win it

it was the 11-12 year old leagues in my 'hood. And even then the runner couldn't leave the base until the ball crossed the plate. Wasn't until 14+ Senior League (Babe Ruth equivalent) until leads and pickoffs were a thing.

This was like a million years ago, but in whatever the league is for 3rd-4th graders is called, we could steal a base, but we weren't allowed to leave the base until the ball crossed home plate. So this meant that you'd only steal on a passed ball, but it usually meant that any passed ball lead to an automatic steal.

our league is a lot different than when i played in it in the late 80s and early 90s. we used to have teeball, minor, majors, and teeners. we now have teeball, junior rookies, rookies, minors, majors, and teeners.

the league my 8yo is in is called rookies and in the first 2 innings we have 'kid pitch' and after 4 balls, the coaches pitch. no stealing at all. innings 3-6 pitches come from a a machine. the coach announces the steal prior to the pitch and the runner can't leave the base until the pitch crosses the plate. the batter is not permitted to swing. max 2 steals per inning.

Did they reject calling that league “convoluted torture”?

Despite their coach’s overuse of infield shifts and some controversy between right-pitcher and the young SS, the light blue team won their opening round tee ball tournament matchup against light gray. Son of a bitch.

lost our 2nd playoff game (double elimination) in extra innings on a walkoff squibber to the pitcher who beat the runner on third to the plate but had the ball pop out of his glove when making the tag. pretty sure at least 7/10 of the kids and 3/5 of the coaches were in tears after that one.
