from Hitchcock to The Hulk (the movie thread)

Searching was outstanding. Entire movie is shown through screens (phone, FaceTime, computer, etc) and the twists and turns were great.

I normally don’t like Spike Lee Joints, but I really liked He Got Game. Ray Allen was great. Way more interested in that storyline than Denzel’s.

Momentum Generation on HBO is really great. You don't even have to like surfing or know much about it. Tells the story of Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, and their whole crew. How they grew up, the highs, the lows. Really excellent.

Watched Movie Night and Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation this weekend. Enjoyed both. Movie Night was a bit better than anticipated. MI came as advertised. That is all.

Finally finished Ready Player One. I wasn’t prepared for how much I loved that movie.

Did you read the book?

The book was great. I haven't seen the movie but I heard it is very different.

The Favourite was pretty good. Funnier than I was expecting.

I'm usually not into these kinds of movies, but I really want to see this one. It does look funny. The trailer is pretty good.

Widows was really, really good (if not quite the masterpiece I was hoping for based on McQueen's resume so far). I think it probably could have lost a layer of plot but the performances and direction were excellent across the board

They serious with this Aquaman movie

I predict a $100M loss if only considering domestic box

i don't know but this sounds like some good shit...

Directed by James Wan (“Furious 7”), “Aquaman” ventures from a neon, “Tron”-inspired Atlantis to ancient ruins straight out of “Indiana Jones,” and then into a nightmare realm of evil swarming fish monsters. It features gigantic battles between innocent crab people and bad guys riding armored sharks. At one point, a DayGlo rave octopus plays the drums while Aquaman fights for the throne of Atlantis in an underwater gladiator arena called “The Ring of Fire.”

To call this movie “big” is an understatement. “Aquaman” has damn near everything: Amber Heard wears a dress made out of domesticated jellyfish, Julie Andrews voices a Lovecraftian aquatic leviathan, Nicole Kidman eats a live goldfish (presumably fake), Willem Dafoe spins a trident so fast it creates an impenetrable saltwater shield

If Beale Street Could Talk didn’t quite coalesce for me but has some powerful moments and messages

Aquaman seems like a fun, stupid romp

Equalizer 2 was an OK 2 hours... not quite what I expected but that might have been a good thing

I love the Miracle on 34th Street remake. It’s terrific. One thing I’ve always wondered, what was the relationship between Bryan and Dorey? Were they dating? FwB? Off/On? She seems flabbergasted when he proposes but there’s clearly something there

TIL that the detective that is trying to persuade Henry and Karen Hill to testify against the mob at the end of Goodfellas was played by the detective that busted Henry in real life.
