Watched Oceans 8 last night. Kinda thought it was pretty bad. Terrible writing, imo.

Also, I seem to hate everything that ‎Steven Soderbergh is involved in. I think he REALLY sucks.

[Reveal] Spoiler:
The stuff with Hathaway's character and the insurance investigator at the end was just SO bad. Horrible writing. Just horrible. And they make it sound like Bullock's character spent 5 years getting this plan perfect and unstoppable, but then the whole thing relied on tricking the actress into wanting a has-been designer, who they then have to convince to commit a major crime, along with several other people they were lucky to find. The whole thing was supposed to be planned out in tiny detail, but she just kept getting lucky with the accomplices.

Seeing Creed at a theater with reclining seats. Dude next to me has his seat reclined with his shoes off. No socks, just bare feet out there. That’s gross

Are you implying that Bradley Cooper is not doing his own singing? Why do you think that? I think it is pretty much known that he did do his own singing in that movie.

Aha, he sang then they overdubbed in post.

If I see Cooper actually use that voice, I will believe it.

Sam Elliot' voice, in Bradley Cooper's throat. That is just too much

Kind of interesting article about how they recorded and used the music for the film. Still not sure I follow how this works:

One of the challenges of recording live performances on a production that’s this highly anticipated was the protection of the music. Cooper and Gaga needed to play their songs in front of real crowds to capture their reactions. But the studio had a vested interest in making sure these never-before-heard songs weren’t also recorded by fans and leaked online.

The producers used a trick to eliminate this possibility. Alan Murray, supervising sound editor on the production, explains that the music was performed and recorded live onstage — but not amplified. “It was a very smart way of shooting,” he says. “I was in the crowd recording their reactions. They were reacting loudly, but they couldn’t hear anything Bradley or Gaga were playing.”

They were in a loud place playing the music unamplified so it couldn’t get recorded and put on YouTube

Um, yeah. But they also talk about getting the big crowd reactions at eh same time to the music that couldn't be heard.

i think the crowd can hear it (at least part of the crowd). I thought they were saying it couldn't be heard by recording equipment bc it wasn't amplified and couldn't be picked up by recording equipment. Could have recorded from the soundboard

The Swedish film Border is definitely strange, but also worth seeing. Based on a story by the author of Let the Right One in.

watched some dumb movies this weekend. really need to get out of the house and see a good one soon

Game Night was a lot funnier than I expected. the plot doesn't make sense and the emotional stuff is really tacked on but I laughed out loud a bunch of times

I watch New Jack City every five years or so hoping it will be better but it always mostly stinks outside of Snipes' performance. Judd Nelson's rogue cop is all-time lame

Dracula 2000 was stupid but actually pretty fun with some nice 90s nostalgia. Gerard Butler as a mostly mute Dracula is probably the best I've ever seen him act

Watched two enjoyable movies this past weekend, one with my daughter and one with my wife.

Watched Isle of Dogs with my daughter. Really liked it. It wasn't funny throughout, but I laughed pretty hard on 10-15 occasions.

Finally watched Avengers, Infinity Wars. Wow. I am kinda sick of every other movie I watch being a superhero movie, but this was extremely well done. I thought there would be too many characters to hold it together, but that was not the case. There was character development that was meaningful and some next level action held together by a great story. Really looking forward to the next installment.
