What a movie. Low bar but it’s the best I’ve seen this year

Excited for Widows. Even more excited that it’s at 96%. McQueen is entering “I will see any movie he directs” and he’s only done 4 movies. What a talent

I saw the Queen biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody". Rather than say whether it was good or bad, though, I think the real thing to say is that if you think you'll like the movie, you probably will like it. To be sure, it has serious flaws--the script is weak, especially the first half, and there are no real revelations about Freddie Mercury or the band on offer. Episodes occur, but nothing comes from them. (Why waste time on explaining how they had to lip sync their appearance on Top of the Pops?) Things get a better as Freddie descends into basic rock and roll debauchery, culminating in his leaving the band. The acting is solid, and the music scenes work well. It's pretty clear the surviving members of the band wanted to protect their legacy, and Freddie's legacy as well.

I do think recreating the 20 minute Live Aid performance works.

this is pretty great. I'll probably start using this line all the time for genre flicks where the recommendation is more dependent on the audience than the material

Redford movie excellent, but rent it.

Star is Born

Excuse me, that is NOT his voice, but it is a great movie

See or rent

Third movie is blanking.

It was great, if I could only remember it.

More later I am sure

Ok

Museo

Excellent but you can only rent it. A recent AFI screening of Garlic Garcia Bernal's recent work.

Museo

Subtle, emotive, yet direct come to mind to describe the performance of the maestro from Mozart in the jungle.

A great movie seen to support the AFI, which we often do.

Rent it, see it, you will love it.

It is based on a true story, as is Redford's final movie.

Are you implying that Bradley Cooper is not doing his own singing? Why do you think that? I think it is pretty much known that he did do his own singing in that movie.

Bohemian Rhapsody was not a good movie but I did enjoy it. I agree with all of the above. My son, who knew squat about Queen or Freddy before the movie, has been has been listening to Queen non-stop since.

Aha, he sang then they overdubbed in post.

If I see Cooper actually use that voice, I will believe it.

Sam Elliot' voice, in Bradley Cooper's throat. That is just too much
