It's the old dilemma: Trump will tell them if they don't want this job he'll find someone who does. Under those circumstances even a principled person might decide to stay and do their best rather than cede the job to someone with even less scruples.

The resignations within party helped lead to a groundswell of support in DC w Republicans to go after Nixon, though.

no it is wrong i think. it was a failure of messaging on the part of dems that they lost this election. that HAS TO be the democratic party's takeaway. they are in the business of winning elections-- if they believe that this is the voters' fault then we are set up for failure in 2018 and 2020. the hillary campaign misread the tea leaves and campaigned in the wrong places and had a shitty message, on top of which the trump campaign had the same team as the Brexit movement actively working to depress the hillary voter turnout. the people who ran the HRC campaign should never be allowed near a major dem campaign ever again
