We had one on our old deck and i liked it . Had a big garden container at one end. Experimented with a few vines, but eventually decided that since I was always hacking back the honeysuckle in the yard to just give that try. Covered the top in like two years and had a nice shade covering, plus we could hear the bees abuzzin over our heads.

Buy some hardy kiwi (make sure you get male and female plants) and let them grow up and cover your pergola. Then you'll get the shade you want (in the summer) and you'll also get hardy kiwis, which many people say are better than the tropical kind you get at the store.

Didn't realize there was such a thing as a tropical kiwi. Always assumed it was native to New Zealand.

Yeh, it's a native of China. They are supposed to be sweeter than regular kiwis and you don't have to peel them.

For the last decade I've wanted to buy some land and do a permaculture thing. I have a long list of weird plants I want to grow for food, soil development, and other uses. Hardy kiwis are near the top of the list. There's a lot of unusual fruit/berries that grow well in temperate climates that hardly anyone knows about.

I bet there will be 1,000+ people in the stands for NFL games. All kinds of friend-of-friend sweetheart deals that let people with access to the finer things in life get permission to be there.

I don't think there'll be any "official" way to be in attendance, but lots of people will.

Since I have nothing better to do with my time at this point, I figured I catch up on a couple of classic award winning shows which I’ve never seen--The Sopranos and The Wire. Watched a full season of each. I’m thinking maybe you had to see them when they first came out 20 years ago to appreciate them. They both feel dated in their own way.

The Sopranos…am I really supposed to take it seriously? Feels like I’m watching a cartoon. Let’s see how many over the top silly Italian American Mafia stereotypes we can cram into one show. Despite the praise of the acting, I find a lot of it cringeworthy (granted, mostly from secondary characters….I’m looking at you, Mrs. Dykstra).

The Wire…it’s OK I guess, but feels like any mid 90s cop show (pick one, any one) with more cursing.

I quit watching the Sopranos after the first episode.

I've never had HBO, so most HBO shows I've never seen until I got Prime, which has a lot of them.
