I guess I am wrong about this. I really thought I heard differently, but I guess not.

I wouldn't do it, but then again I wouldn't take Happ out of the rotation to spare Moyer's feelings. From a Phillies perspective, Halladay probably more than equals Lee plus Happ-the-reliever.

Is this a good idea? Would Toronto accept it? (They get some cost savings, plus Happ, and could still trade Lee this winter or next season.)

On balance, I'm going to say no. I like our flexibility right now, and the extra space on the wage bill that comes with lee. Happ either sticks with the rotation or becomes a trade piece next year around deadline day if we really need to move get something. not taking on halladay means we can look seriously at what we do with brett myers - given his coming back from injury and general willingness to pitch for us, I could see a nice one year re-establish his value deal which we can afford because it's not going to halladay.

Nah, the halladay dream was cool, but what we have now is better, I feel.

Halladay seemed downright depressed when he was interviewed at his locker last night. Probably pulled down a Phillies poster before the reporters came over.

Saw that. Despite my elation over the Lee trade, I was feeling truly bad for him.

Rube should offer Happ, Brown, and something else (not Taylor or Drabek) for Halladay. I really think he should do this. Go for gusto. Lee is eminently tradable this offseason if the Blue Jays break down and accept, and it practically guarantees a WFC this year. And, much as I like the deal Rube made and think Lee is a good pitcher, the point of this always was to get a postseason starter. In the postseason, you want raw power if you can get it. Lee, by Rube's own admission, is not that guy.

They might as well start mapping the parade route if they acquired Halladay too. The funny thing is, it's completely possible because obviously the players the Jays wanted are still here

Before this year, I would never have dared even dream. But the WFC, combined with His Smugness - I know the thought has crossed his mind anyway.

Halladay isnt unbeatable. A bad offense beat him yesterday. And we smoked Sabathia last year.

The bottom line is improving your own team and worrying about your playoff opponent when/if you get there

Remember when some people thought the Jays might be able to get rid of Wells in a deal for Halladay? Bwahahahaa.

I don't think they could get rid of Wells's contract if they had Scarlett Johansson's virginity to package with it.

Now they are trying to dump Rios on the team taking Halladay.

What a bad organization

I knew her before she was a virgin.
