all of this mostly just hurt my eyes, but this specific passage could not make less sense. Advise away, oh sage of Seattle, but who the fuck cares really whether you're willing to pay a steep price for your morning coffee - the price for Halladay ain't your call.

I do like the "remains the most trusted voice in the organization" - certainly the most trusted by Salisbury, apparently
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

I still don't think the deal that is out in public is the total deal. I believe the Jays asked for more than Drabek, Happ and Brown, I think that Donald and D'Nard were also in that deal.

Bottom line - Jays asked for the most they could ask for and the two teams are still negotiating. I believe this thing gets done for Happ, Carrasco, Brown, Donald and D'Nard and Halladay one of the Jays releivers are coming to Philly

@Gr8WallOfRolen Nope. Wouldn't even have to think that hard. Have you seen Knapp's arm action?

Someone ask him a followup: What if he was in the Mets organization?

7:36pm: Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FoxSports.com report that the Jays countered the Angels offer by asking for a four player package that included Joe Saunders, Brandon Wood, Erick Aybar, and one prospect from the group of Trevor Reckling, Peter Bourjos, and Sean O'Sullivan. They also mention that as many as five teams are talking with Toronto about Halladay.

Check out JRoll's comments' courtesy of Lauber's blog:

Jimmy Rollins’ opinion on whether the Phillies should trade whatever it takes (Kyle Drabek and J.A. Happ) for Roy Halladay:

“For the first time in how many years we’ve actually had enough guys in the minor leagues to acquire a guy like Roy Halladay,” Rollins said. “Will a deal be made? They’re asking a steep price, no doubt about that. But to get a guy of Roy’s caliber to come and pitch for you, anybody would take that, almost regardless of what the asking price is.”

Damn straight Jimmy. MAKE THE TRADE, RUBE!

is this for real?

As trade negotiations between the Phillies and Toronto continued yesterday, the Phillies were trying to steer the Blue Jays toward a package led by pitcher Carlos Carrasco, infielder Jason Donald and others in their attempt to acquire Roy Halladay, sources with knowledge of the negotiations said.

This is the ol': "I won't give you want, but I'll give you even more of what you don't want" strategy.

According to Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times, Mariners officials believe there may be something physically wrong with Erik Bedard.
With the trade deadline looming, it's not a great time for this kind of news to come out. Bedard lasted just three innings Saturday, surrendering two earned runs and four walks. "I know he doesn't want to say that anything's bothering him," manager Don Wakamatsu said in his post-game press conference. "But we'll find out tomorrow in more detail." An MRI may be planned.

I may have been a little ambitious with this thread title.

According to sources, the Phillies are willing to trade Happ or Drabek, but not both, even in a deal for Halladay, widely considered the majors’ best pitcher. General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. wasn’t available for comment, but it’s believed the Phillies are preparing a counter-proposal that involves Happ or Drabek and three other prospects, including either touted outfielder Dominic Brown or Michael Taylor and right-hander Carlos Carrasco.

so dumb. i now hate happ

So, from the sounds of things, the offer will be:

Drabek or Happ
+
Brown or Taylor
+
Carrasco
+
Fourth prospect (Marson? Donald?)

It's not fair to logic either. Happ is NOT worth stopping this trade.

Stupid thought: Are the Phils waiting to see Pedro in action before committing to including Happ?

Because if they really believe Pedro is viable, keeping Happ would lead to having seven starters.

Halladay, Hamels, Blanton, Happ, Pedro, Moyer, Lopez

I know they're not identical, but hasn't Kendrick taught this organization anything? Guys with fringy stuff who get great results are living and dying by batted balls in play. Happ was unlucky last night, and hes got better raw stuff than Kendrick, but it seems the FO believes Happ is a legitimate top of the rotation starter now.

Scary.
