Two seasons of 100-win talent amount to nothing

I would think they'd be active in FA but there is no one out there at the position they really need (1B). Maybe they'll go after the Cuban Howard

They obviously are still in solid shape roster wise but a lot of their younger guys are looking a pretty huge arb raises. Strasburg (3 years ST, 3.9mm salary last year), Zimmermann (4 years ST, 4.35mm LY), Desmond (4 years ST, 3.8mm LY), Detweiler (4 years ST, 2.33mm LY), Clippard (4 years ST, 4mm (really!) LY),

Desmond in particular is going to get a huge jump IMO as he's quietly been the best SS in the NL the last two years, and has put up good counting numbers. Also Strasburg and Zimmermann are going to jump to 8 digits soon if they stay year to year

They'll also need another starter to replace Haren

Remember that one time they benched their best pitcher in their first playoff appearance ever and then thought that they were going to make the playoffs for the next handful of years? Good times.

And, of course, Werth jumps up to $20 million next year.

Should've let LaRoche go and kept Morse, which was what pretty much all the analysts were saying they should do going into last winter.

Terrible in the field. Always hurt. Old for his age. A hacker. Hits some homers though.

I like LaRoche a lot. He hits pretty good and is a fancy Dan at 1B. I like 1Bmen who are good glove men.

That's been one of my favorite things to remind Nats fans over the past two years when they crow about their upcoming "dynasty." The other thing was their smoke and mirrors offense in 2012 that they couldn't overcome this year.

They're going to win a dozen more games than us this year, so being all smuggy about their season seems a bit Mets-fan-ish, to me.

I think Werth could solve their 1B problem, if it's easier to find an OF on the market. But, hey, I hope they suck forever. Gotta figure out a way to make the Braves suck, too.

Davey went out of his way to antagonize us the past few years, crowing about his squad, and leaves with very little to show for it, which I enjoy. That's all

They should move Zimmerman to 1B (since he can't seem to throw straight anymore), Rendon to 3B (the position he played in college and the minors) and maybe find a 2B somewhere.

Or we have a 1B that I'd love to move to DC for nothing in return.
