With Playoff Fever in DC setting up sellouts that do not feature the Phillies in the city, there is plenty of stupidity in the air.

- There is the commitment of shutting Strasburg down. I have to applaud the Nationals for sticking to their guns so far to protect his future (and thier investment) and pushing back the fans/media. I cannot imagine what happen if the team views it as the white flag and takes an early exit.

- The Nats have renewed their battle with the city. They want the city to poney up $29K/home playoff game to keep the trains running past midnight on the week days. The city, rightfully, said that they put $800M into building the ballpark, so the Nats should STFU and put up the coin. I have to note that the team gets back up to 100% if there is $29K spent in the system.

- Nats versus the city part 2: The Nats want the rights to the city streets to put up vendor stalls outside of the ballpark for the duration of the playoffs. So, yes, they want space to sell, or at least get a percentage of sales, from vendors to be placed on public land.

Although I agree they should STFU and put up the money, I doubt they'd get much of that money back. Outside of a lengthy rain delay, you're talking about a period of time that's typically well after the 7th inning, so beer sales are done and very few concessions are still even open.

It's Taft!

Suspect his strategy will be to take an early lead and then simply clog the course.

The centerfield position in the NL East got a whole lot more entertaining this offseason.

Werth, by the way is having himself a year. .330 BA with a .938 OPS. The one 34 year old who is still good and we let him go. Thanks Amaro.

They still owe him 4 years/$83MM. He made $10MM/$13MM/$16MM in the first three years.

I know. I wonder if this is his last hurrah or if he will age really gracefully.

He's been absolutely on fire in the second half (.404/.500/.673 in 126 PA). He wasn't very good before he went on the DL in May and he was pretty good in June. Hard to draw many conclusions from that.

Werth has always been a funny game. Looked like a great, toolsy young player. Had a decent start but then had some bad injuries. Then he became a Demi-star after finally establishing himself at the age of 29. Not your typical career. Makes the computer guys nervous.

Not sure when he made the change but Storen is now bending his knee during his delivery and doesn't stick his leg out until the end. Bout time they fixed that

Looks like Danny Espinosa won't be a Nats much longer. The team is trying to dump him
