Nadal cruising to a win. A player over 30 has only one two majors in a year once and that was in 1969. Feds and Nadal did it this year.

Probably will lean Federer. Each won two majors and three other tournaments. Federer won the head to head 3-0.

Had to beat back that 31 year old kid Anderson to do it.

Anderson is 15 now but not sure what he was before that. Looks like he was 32 and now moved up to 15. Del Potro was 28 and now up to 24.

Stephens hasn't won since she won the US Open. She's lost 7 straight matches to basically nobodies.

Simona Halep in an epic battle with Lauren Davis of the US, now leading 14-13 in third set tiebreaker. Match close to 4 hours.

Edit: Halep wins 15-13. Match took 3:45, final set 2:22.

Davis was up 0-40 at 11-10, sorta started cramping up or something, and lost 6 points in a row

Then I put on CSpan-2 because I've made bad life choices and forgot about the rest of that match

Davis looks like she can barely clear the net. She must barely be 5'.

Zverev lost to a nobody in 5. Nadal, Djokovic, and Federer are cruising.

American tennys sandgren is into the quarters after a five set win over #5 thiem. Djok goes out in straight sets to unseeded hyeon chung. Doesn’t bode well for him that his elbow still isn’t right after six months off.

rafa out, injury retirement after going down 2-0 in the 5th set. was a very close match even before the injury, though i'm not sure whether the injury happened before, during or after the game in which cilic went up a break in the 4th.
very unexpectedly, americans still have a chance in both singles draws, despite early exits and absences of isner, querry, and the williams sisters.
