Wasn't the whole "nobody will want to work for an owner like this" thing sort of disproven when they hired a World Series winning manager a couple weeks ago? Klentak was the only one at that presser too, with no Middleton around.

This is like reading a transcript of a WIP call. I'll hang up and listen.

Hell yeah, a manager loves an owner like Meddleton. He can go right around the GM to the owner whenever he has an issue. Its the future GM/FO people who wont want to work for Snyder, I mean Meddleton.

I'd be on board with this if it comes in tandem with signing Rendon to play 3B. I'm very leery of the dollars/years/risk of signing one of the top arms on the FA market and think this would be a more prudent way to add an impact starter. Buy bats and develop/trade for pitching.

Two reasons it might not happen: Doesn't seem like (barring a lights-out spring that forces the issue) that Bohm's breaking camp with the team, not to mention that little things like Hoskins being the only roster player at the Girardi presser and then being made available to the press while there make me think that they don't have any intention of moving Hoskins and still see him as one of the faces of the franchise.

As to the Middleton issue, overruling your front office is never a great look, but what were the last three decisions he reportedly stepped in on?

*Harper over Machado
*Firing Mallee
*Firing Gabe to hire Girardi

All three were the right decisions, and if the baseball people were pitching the opposite, it's kind of more damning of them than of Middleton for stepping in.

I think you have this all wrong. The WIP'ers LOVE Meddleton and his grandstanding. He's their hero. He brought Harper! He brought back Cholly! He got rid of the evil Gabe! Next he'll get rid of Klentak and his stupid analytics! Maybe he'll even bring back Dallas Green as GM and Bowa as Manager!

Yeah it is, it's not worth engaging with WhiteyFan because his mind was made up a long time ago about this and I don't see eye to eye with him on this one!

Lots of good and bad posts here. Good work guys!

Klentak - I'm still on the fence about him. Guess we'll see if some of the moves I didn't like were to provide the coaching staff what they wanted or his valuations.

Klentak's eventual replacement - What potential GM walks away from a job in a big market with ownership willing to spend? They have to deal with ownership on every team and I assume the most attractive thing is resources.

Realmuto - Think we discussed it before but delaying the extension with a wink, wink deal until Jake's salary clears is a sound idea.

Rhys - This is the offseason to trade him or extend him to buy out the arb. years and a year or 2 of FA to spread out the AAV.
Drunk and stupid is no way to be remembered but it is an easy way to forget.

my biggest dissapointment has been macFAIL. i think he's the one who was supposed to have the macro view of the franchise, the experience and the Rolodex of baseball people to call on. think he's been more of babysitter with good hair and a good suit rather than someone with any sort of vision of the franchise.

i think klentak has done well (B), with the 40 man roster, for the most part. don't know if it was klentak or macphail that was slow to move on from scouting and development. i really have to give klentak two more years because of this.

i'm a rhys fan, and trends with stats aside, i think he's better hitter than he's shown of late. i would bet on him reversing his trend. i would buy out arb years and gain cost certainty, hopefully buying low. however, he's a guy you don't go into buying out FA years with. you have to resist temptation to go beyond arb years with the big, slow, poor d, power guys.
