just because youre a dummy with romance doesnt mean youe a dummy with numbers. In fact there may be an inverse ratio between the 2.

yeah, wait a sec, wtf does game with the ladies have to do with being good at poker? if anything, not spending time with the ladies and instead spending it playing cards is probably hugely beneficial to being good at poker.

lack of confidence with the ladies has very little to do with one's ability to play correct poker.

though in this instance, traderdave may be right because i don't think i've ever seen the guy who posted that (who revealed himself with his non-gimmick account identity later in the thread) ever post in ANY of the strategy forums.

seke- Im going to one last ditch attempt for the main event-

which is my best choice to get into the 300 dollar tourney for a seat?

35+3 SNG ( 1 winner out of 9)

24+2 MTT (1 winner out of every 14)

69+6 MTT (1 winner out of every 5)

There's a 8 dollar MTT as well, but Im not playing that as it starts past midnight.

probably the 69+6, but any of those should be good opportunities, will be a lot of desperate/bad players

Like me? Is THAT what youre saying sekey boy?

I played in 2 24 dollar SNG for the sunday 200 qualifier but came in 2nd in both, Ive really been getting unlucky HU's lately. Ive been getting my money in with the best hand to put them away and they keep sucking out on me.

Alright, so I've gone to the 2p2 site and there are somewhere around 1.0 million articles, posts, etc. Where is a good place to start?

Depends on what game you want...if it's Multi-table tournaments, start with the MTT Strategy forum and read the anthology. If it's single-table tournaments, STT strategy is a great forum, read the FAQ and go from there.

For cash games, there's forums for each level of stakes. Each forum/game/variation has a FAQ that indicates what the forum is about. Small Stakes No Limit and Medium Stakes No Limit are solid forums with lots of good information too.

I went out on the bubble.

Not much I could do, I was 2nd to last in chips with 1 more to go out and the shortie doubled up leaving me as the new shortie. Blinds were greater than 1/10 of my stack and I get A 10 suited on the SB and push all in, the BB called iwth 3's and won.
What cracked me up is that one guy had over a third of the chips in play and was still playing loose until the end.

Sounds like you played it exactly right and for the right reasons.

Yeah, Im definitely getting better at short handed play in late stage tournies thanks to you, it's not showing in my sharkscope because I keep getting burst on the bubble due to some bad luck lately. (including the live tourney last saturday- I was stealing blinds left and right and was in great postion to take it down when I just hit a run of 4 suck outs in a row.) Im trying not ot be results oriented as I do see it's working and Im just on a bad run.

Let me ask you- do you still attempt to steal blinds when you have a player like Dave R acting after you and the range of holdings that they'll call you with is very high?

Yes, but it varies how I'm going to steal. I won't steal with air. Or if I do steal with a weak hand, I may raise instead of pushing. Dave will call small raises very wide but he'll call somewhat tighter on a push for most/all of his chips. Any decent ace, any pair, some two broadway hands....but you can't try to abuse him with air. At the same time, when you're very desperate/short, you can push wide into him because you know when he does call, you'll usually at least have 40% equity no matter what you have.
