OUCH

There was a worse one...I don't remember what day it happened in, but there was a hand where a player had AA and he got it all in on an A72 flop. Opponent tables 88. Turn 8. River 8.

I'll be there for the July one, but once again I'll be missing out on the one at Brian's place. I think I've now missed 4 times in a row when Brian was hosting. Have a legit excuse though, my best friend's wedding is that weekend and I'll be out of town.

I think I'll just barely make my six this year again, I think I'm hosting in September and that will give me 6.

Tried but too many things kept popping up, will eventually get up there one day when Carrasco is pitching.

I was in Limerick on Saturday for a riverchasers event, was knocked out by a foul mouth octogenarian bitch.

I should be, the way you've owned me the last few times I played.

From Mike Matusow's brother Scott on Myspace:

Quick main event exit for Mike this year

Mike was not feeling well, had the runs all day long, so he basically sort of "tanked" (was the pun intended?) the main event on day one. Playing Poker especially the main event of the WSOP while having to use the potty every 10 minutes just don't cut it!!

pokernews.com had an interview with Matusow up shortly before he went busto. You could tell he wasn't feeling well.

He also said his table was full of terrible players who were easy to read.

Shortly afterwards, he pushed with 33 from the SB over a CO raise. CO guy had JJ and busted him.

I think this beat is worse. The only way it coule have been more "devastating" is if they were all in after the flop.

After four days of Main Event play, the official numbers are in!

6,358 players entered the 2007 WSOP Main Event, creating a prizepool of $59,784,954. 621 places will be paid, and each player who cashes will be guaranteed at least $20,320. First place will win $8,250,000.

2,415 fewer players entered the Main Event in 2007 than in 2006, but this year's number is 739 higher than when Joe Hachem won it all in 2005.

definite fad

yup

Check out this hand:

The other great story, which I’m proud to share with everyone as an EXCLUSIVE as far as I can tell, is what some witnesses are calling the Sickest Hand Ever Played in Poker. All capital letters, ’cause it deserves them. There are rumors out there about this hand and I’m setting the record straight after speaking with multiple players at the table including the man who made the play himself, EPT founder John Duthie.

The game was 50/100 NL with a 200 Ante from the button, and 30k minimum buyin. John Duthie raised from the CO to 400 and the button, only identified as David (more due to memory than identity protection), called on the button.

The flop came A92 rainbow, and Duthie checked. David bet 1500 into a 1300 pot, and Duthie check-raised to 4500. David called. The turn was another Ace and Duthie checked again. David pushed all in for around 20k (Duthie says 23k, others say 19k, we’ll hedge our bets and say 20), and Duthie called in a shot, flipping over Q4o with Queen High, no draw. David flipped over J8o and missed his 6 outs on the river.

“Sickest thing I’ve ever seen. EVER!” one player said. It borders on Stu Unger levels of greatness. In any case, now you know who the man is today… it’s Duthie.

WSOP ME Day 1A-1D is completed, and Day 2A starts today.

Some of the top internet guys who are still in it that you've never heard of but are probably better than most of the pros you have heard of, with their approximate stack sizes:
George 'Bond18' Dunst: 170k
Adam 'admo' Richardson: 150k
Justin 'jurollo' Rollo: 125k
Brandon 'wins_pots' Adams: 120k
Cliff 'JohnnyBax' Josephy: 118k
Stephen 'MrTimCaum' O'Dwyer: 100k
Andrew 'Foucault' Brokos: 31k

That's just a handful of the names I know are decent players.

Not sure what notable pros are playing today...here's a few:
Barry Greenstein: 93k
Huck Seed: 67k
Bill Chen: 29k

Tom McEvoy 63k
Matt Matros 49k
Dan Harrington 44k
Tony G 42k
Hoyt Corkins 42k
Dustin 'Neverwin' Woolf 38k
John Hennigan 36k
Joe Hachem 35k
