He's a very solid player.

Whenever I see him on TV he always seems to bluff his chip offs. He does play aggressively and certainly can hold his own against the pros, he has played since the 70's and played against Brunson, Reese, and Ungar for years.

I noticed this year they didnt switch to NLHE for the final table- nice to see they kept it rotating.

Played at the Borgata last night - they rape you, at least on holiday weekend Saturdays, as the $100 NL SnG had a $20 vig. 10 players tourney, pays top 2 (700/300). The play was crazy early - at least 5 people went all-in in the first 10-12 hands. 3K chips to start, 15 minute betting rounds, but the jumps were big... 2 hours in, we were at 1200/2400 with a 400 ante, and 3 of us left, 1 big stack at about 18K, me at 7K, third at 5K. I knocked out the 5K, so it was ~18K to ~12K, and the big stack offered me a chop, and I took it.

I was ultra-conservative; I may have played 2 hands in the first 40. I folded hands I theoretically could/should have played (AK in the small blind), due to all-ins before me.

It was a blast, but I guess at least half of that is because I won.... Hope to go down again soon.

Casino SNG tourneys are always expensive, they have to pay a dealer and get their cut. Heck, the 1/2 cash table is $5/30 min.

1. It's almost Main Event time. LOL Donkaments, as seke might say.

thats awesome. go erick.

ME starts tomorrow, 4 days of day 1 this year. total count of people playing is supposedly a lot lower than last year. i've heard most guesses in the 5k-6k range. this is likely due to the fact that the WSOP is not accepting sat winners from poker sites this year, so when players win a WSOP sat online this year what is really happening is that they are just getting some amount of money ($10k buyin+travel expenses) put in their account, and it's up to the individual if they want to buy-in or not. many players opted not to buy in that would have played in the past if they were directly registered by their site.

Got back from the Borgata today, it was donk city at the 1/2 NLHE table. I won over 400 bucks and couldve won 300 more if I didnt get a semi bad beat and ended up with a chop. (I was BB and had 37:s:, no raises preflop and the flop was 3 7 3, by the turn I had a guy all in with a Q 3- the turn was an 8 and the river was an 8 so it was a chop- ugh)

High Stakes Showdown!!

Author: Scott fischman

Published on: 01:10:30 on Jul 04, 2007

OH BABY!!! online poker is getting sicker and sicker! Pokerstars just added a new and very exciting tourney to their sunday line-up. It is a 10k buyin Heads up match tourney.... The tournament is currently sold out at 16 players but that is not to say that there will not be anymore seats opening soon.... When the tournament lobby was first available there were only 8 spots open maximum... It was filled in no time and since then the maximum was increased to a 16 player cap, which was also sold out very shortly after becoming available! I have no inside information, but im guessing when its all said and done there will be 32 players...

The tourney begins this sunday the the 8th at 16:15 ET..... Players will recieve 10k in chips with 30 min levels and level 1 will be 25-50. This is by far and away the best structure for a HU tourney that i have ever seen, and there is no close second!!

AS it stands now with the 16 player cap...$160k total prizepool

1st = $72,000 2nd = $40,000 3rd/ 4th = $24,000

Gl to all those who will a part of this ground breaking event!

oh, also for everyone who aspires to get rich on $10, pokerstars is having a guaranteed $100k tournament with a $10 entry fee on sunday as well. yes, that's right, $10 entry fee with a first place prize somewhere in the neighborhood of $15k-$20k probably. the maximum number of entrants is 15000 and there are already 13000 registered, so if you want to play you need to register NOW...or even if you think you want to play, because registration will probably will tonight or tomorrow even though the tournament isn't until sunday.

it is a turbo tournament with 10 minute levels so you could expect about 6 hours, start to finish, even with a field of 15k entrants. it should be a crazy, insane donkfest ... but it's probably better than buying a lottery ticket.

yeah, gamble a LOT early on because you are going to need a monster stack to survive the mid-late stages. basically, it'll play like a rebuy for the first 30 mins in terms of people playing almost any 2 cards to double up a lot early on, i imagine.

you could probably spend 10 bucks, spend the first 40 mins folding anything other than TT+/AQ+, push anytime you have any of those hands, and end up doing allright. if you don;t catch a premium after 40 mins, just push whatever you get and cross your fingers.
