Justin is a total douche. He was caught multi-accounting major tournaments on one of the major sites (Party, I think) last year. His immediate response/apology was pathetic and half-hearted. On the plus side, the site did seize most of the funds in his account (over 100k?) that I don't think he ever got back.

He might be a decent player, but he's not someone I want to see winning poker tournaments.

Negreanu now leading, Bonomo in 2nd. Matusow is climbing.

BTW, Im glad ESPN decided to show the whole tournament instead of the final table. HORSE is not just Hold em and it would be inteesting to see all the games. THeyre airing it in four consecutive weeks in October

Didnt ESPN ruin the televised covergae of the HORSE tourney by just showing the NL final table and none of the other games last year?

Yes, but see my post above, theyre covering the whole tourney this year.

Even the final table wasnt done justice last year, the heads up battle between Bloch and Reese went over 10 hours.

agreed, with the names in the HORSE tourney, I would not be surprised to see a $50K buy in NL event as an event at WSOP soon; they will bill it as the "pros WSOP" or something like that since the pros are pissed "no names" are always winning ME....

By the way, not sure if any of you are close to Harrisburg area or not, but myself and a few guys here are looking for a solid group of 10 guys to play a monthly tourney with $100 buy in that will go for the year and the winner will get $12K to buy into main event (plus travel $$) and represent the group. winner will get 50% of any winnings and other 9 will split the other 50%....details to be worked out

we are also tossing around the idea to have a similar arrangement for the US Poker Open (or at least some of the preliminary events).....

let me know if anyone would be interested

Too far for me to make it on a regular basis. Plus youre gonna run into problems with your set up. The 1st is finding a date every month that agrees with everyone's schedules. If a guy cant make it, do you force him to put in a 100? Also, as the tourneies progress you may find that the weaker players may get discouraged as they are too far behind in points and may give up and no longer contribute money into the pot by dropping out. The better set up is to find 10 guys a month to do a winner take all 1,000 pot. The 1000 bucks is then held in an account and after 10 months the winners then play a shoot out winner take all for the seat. Obviously previous winners wont play again until the final table so youd have to find more players as you play thru the year. Of course, the problem occurs if suddenly one month you cant find enough players.

Good idea. Obviously this is an idea that needs some tweaking. I am proposing we shoot a little lower and try it (to get those interested committed while avoiding the risk of the problems you point out) and shoot for the Borgata Winter Poker Open and maybe the 2500 or 5000 buy in.....thanks for the suggestions

Trust me, getting people together for a poker games isnt easy, although my friend runs the one I attend I actively try to get players to come and it's a crapshoot at times.

Final table:

Amnon Filippi: $4,015,000
Freddy Deeb: $3,500,000
Kenny Tran: $2,445,000
John Hanson: $1,995,000
David Singer: $1,330,000
Bruno Fitoussi: $895,000
Barry Greenstein: $750,000
Thor Hansen: $40,000

Looks like Thor will be gone pretty soon. If I had to bet on who wins I'd put my money on Deeb.

Looks like Kaplan represented himself very well. He hasn't cashed much but he is still considered to be one of the better celebrity players, right?

He's a very solid player.
