It's easy to right click and play it at quarter speed.

It won't help you understand it, but it will fuel your nightmares.

my best guess is "we're gonna catch 'em", but not sure who he's referring to. i will ask

Well, I'm pretty certain it's Spanish, but I can't make out the words clearly.

not spanish

got our only hit last night
(Brandy) only hinted at Halladay's personal issues during her Hall of Fame speech last July, when she said, "Roy would want everyone to know that people are not perfect. We're all imperfect and flawed in one way or another. We all struggle."

Someone tell me that despite the fact we only got one hit, Mallee coached them up to some great exit velocity.

He is not OK. He stinks. Kapler values these versatile players and I guess Hernandez needs a night off but I disagree with the Haseley move. DFA Rodriguez, put Kingery at 3B everyday and you have Brad Miller as your utility guy. Rodriguez doesn't add value. At this point, Haseley will learn just as much if not more by hanging around the big club and getting MLB experience. They are repeating last year's mistakes with veteran acquisitions mid to late season that stunt the growth of the youth and ultimately don't provide the results.

100%

Double that 100%. Band-aids that are advertised to stay on in the shower but they don't.

All for a chance at the second wild card.

I'll do one better. Release Rodriguez and bring up Alec Bohm. Make Cesar the utility guy and put Kingery at 2B. Quinn is due to get hurt and Haseley comes up. Here's your lineup:
CF - Adam Haseley
SS- Jean Segura
RF - Bryce Harper
1B - Rhys Hoskins
LF - Jay Bruce/Corey Dickerson
C - JT Realmuto
2B - Scott Kingery
3B - Alec Bohm

At this point, there's nothing to lose.

I am in some despair about this team. They can't play consistently and our stars aren't playing like stars. Offense sucks. Pitching sucks.

I wonder a lot about "buying" a competitor. Maybe that works for some teams, but man, it sure doesn't seem to work for us.

We are told that clubhouse chemistry is great (Stolnis just talked about this on the latest Hittin' Season podcast). But who cares about the clubhouse getting along when we're about a month and a half to the end of the season, 8 games back, and have been playing like shit since, oh, early June or so?

We have only a few prospects. There's not a lot of options on the farm. We can't seem to develop many, if any, and then we stunt their growth. I agree wholeheartedly that Kingery and Haseley should be playing every day- on the Phillies.

So we need to upgrade, and I just don't see it happening. Losing McCutchen should not have killed this team the way it seems have done. He was a good player this year, but he wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire either. I can't wait for the postseason presser where we are told that that loss was one the team couldn't come back from.
Together we will win this game against the evil Space Yankees! Eat Fresh!

Might as well.

sports psychology is fascinating. the mccutchen loss definitely hurt, but he's still been hanging around the team. that said, the team definitely hit a wall at that point in early june. so it's easy to point to that.

i wonder how the players feel about playing for a guy like kapler? is he someone that they play in spite of, or someone they wanna make proud? i know he's mr calm and collected, but he also comes off as mr macho. players, since their little league days, strive to make their "dad" proud on the ballfield. players may perceive kapler as less of a father figure and more of an intimidating male rival given how young and ripped he is, idk. it sounds ridiculous but there's something clearly bothering this team and i'm trying to figure out what it is. something psychological is getting in the way of this team's ability.

it could be something stupid like maybe the team is getting up too early everyday for whatever reason (or staying up too late playing fortnite) and by gametime they're sleepy

or maybe they have too many off-the-field charity commitments like showing up at hospitals for sick kids

anyway, who knows, it's pointless for us to speculate. we don't know enough about the dynamics of the clubhouse. a sports psychologist hanging around the team all the time may be able to pick up on it.

Everyone just overrated them... there is no sustainable starting pitching after Nola... you banked on at least one or two of the group of Pivetta, VV, Eflin, Eickhoff, EDLS being able to be a mid to late rotation piece... VV is ... sometimes... like 33% of the time.... I feel like they went into a malaise when McCutchen went down... I expected an energy decline for a week not the rest of the season but I feel like we were a different team before that happened... Bullpen suffered too many injuries... No Robertson, Seranthony, Arano, Neshek, Hunter and like eight other potential guys... Kapler isn't a good manager... maybe he can be someday but isn't right now, he just experiments... None of the big guys, Harper, Rhys, etc have been able to carry them for a stretch with the exception of the initial Jay Bruce run... play it out... get a healthy bullpen, you're probably gonna have to buy or trade for like a #2 and #3 starter... maybe Hamels returns as your 3... gotta get a two, make Arrieta a 4 and let VV and Vargas battle Howard and Medina for the 5th spot... keep some veteran depth like Smyly if you can in a swing role... Get Cutch healthy... figure out what you're doing with Otrouble... move Kingery to second and move on from Cesar... sorry wiiville... let Bohm win the 3rd base job and move on from Franco... figure out where Haseley and Moniak fit in the plan long range... Get a manager who has had success and will immediately have respect of the clubhouse... whether it's the names like Girardi, Showalter, etc... Middleton will pay for who he wants I guess... they aren't going to magically go on a huge run this year... too many holes right now and they look dead in the water... maybe an 81-81 team, a little better or worse... 2020 is the new focus
Even if you get run over by a clown car and pissed on by a busload of school children, it's still your responsibility to interpret the meaning of the event and choose a response
