Looks like the other manufacturers need to step up their urethane offerings.

So I will be serving as coach for an independent youth bowler on Friday at the PA State High School singles championships. I say independent because his high school (Liberty) doesn't have a bowling team (but of course he will be representing his HS). He finished with the 4th highest pin count in Eastern regional Tournament two weeks ago out of 190. (My son finished 107th; not too bad for a freshman).

Hopefully I don't mess him up. His regular "coach" is on vacation at Red Sox spring training. Should be cool to watch the state finals.

Six months is too long in between posts, so....

The US open (well, certain parts of it) was a joke. But at the end of the day, nice win for Rhino. I'm not surprised a lefty took it.

Very interested to see how the WSOB goes. Mookie Betts with a 278 in qualifying on Chameleon.

On a personal level, I had my third straight 700 series in league this week....never even went back to back before. Wish I would have started younger. I might have been half decent.

congrats, keep it up; lots of guys blossom as the get older because they stop trying to crank the ball

I've only been bowling once a week on PBA/Kegel challenge shots so I haven't had too many high scores. Our city tournament is this weekend, so we'll see how I do on the house shot.

It'll either very easy, or too easy. Where is this taking place?

Berks Lanes in Sinking Spring

and yes, I hope I carry. the all-events will probably be ridiculously high, someone might hit 2350 if they're really on

The US Open WAS a joke! Oiling the lanes once a day, for 3 squads, was fine back in the days before urethane and reactive resin balls. But today's equipment burns the oil off the lanes too fast, forcing the players on the last squad of the day to loft half the lane. I understand wanting the bowlers to have to play multiple angles over the course of the tournament, but that can be accomplished by running different patterns/lengths each day.

Oh, and Mookie is my second favorite non-Phillie, after Trout of course.
(Brandy) only hinted at Halladay's personal issues during her Hall of Fame speech last July, when she said, "Roy would want everyone to know that people are not perfect. We're all imperfect and flawed in one way or another. We all struggle."

Best of luck. I just went to the Berks website and saw the Great and Greatest Tournament on December 2-3. Since I'm now a senior, I may give that some consideration. I suspect I'll know a few people there.

BTW, another personal note...I subbed at Facenda Whitaker last night and rolled a personal best 760. Also picked up the 4-6-10 in first frame of game three. Was a good night.

I agree. They could do it like Junior Gold with multiple patterns or the could do it like Teen Masters where everyone basically has to use the same ball. Something needs to be done anyway, because that ain't bowling. We'd get kicked out of our houses if we did what those pros had to do.
