Alex Horton. Great kid. He's been bowling very well lately and it looks like things just came apart in his last game. I haven't seen his dad yet to ask him about it. Daniel Boone team did qualify for states though. He rolled a 663 series in the team event and I'm sure held up his end in Bakers.

The Kid's gonna be a star. Finished tied for 13th in his first year in U15 division at Junior Gold last year. Finished 3rd the year before in the U12 division. 21st the year before that. Second place the year before that. Whatever happened in his last game at Regionals, it wasn't the pressure.

Oh and he's the non-pro Face of BowlerX in their TV commercials that air during PBA events. Him and Anthony Neuer are going to be battling it out for a few years in the state. Riley Celmer of Fleetwood is another Freshman making a big impact. His game has really taken off in the last 18 months or so.

Yeah any team with Aidan Dsouza on it is going to have a good chance if he's on his game. The rest of the team is solid enough to hold their own. Just looked at the Wilson girls roster and I can't say I'm familiar with any of the names.

I hope your stepdaughter enjoyed her high school career. Any plans on continuing it at the college level?

the Brinkley girl has loads of talent, so I expect big things out of her if she keeps her cool.

No, she's planning on softball

I'm not going to disagree because I'm a big Alex Horton fan. My son has bowled with him in league at Limerick and I've bowled with his dad. He's worked very hard for his success.

I'm going to put Anthony Neuer in that conversation as well though. Kid is 15 and looks 20. Big power lefty. I guess it helps that his did is/was a pro. He's also on Junior Team USA now.

not sure, Berks County has 14 teams and Lancaster/Lebanon has 20 in their league

no idea about the rest of the state

Philly does have some teams, they go to the Eastern regionals every year

15 teams total in Suburban One League between the two Divisions. Philly public has some, Philly catholic league has some. But yeah it's sporadic around the state. Lehigh valley has zero even though people have been trying for years. School boards are resisting for some reason. Kind of a shame especially for girls since women's bowling is an NCAA sport with bunches of title 9 money.

40 Boys Teams and 31 girls teams were in the east regional tournament. Mind you, some boys teams had one or two girls on the team. Some schools don't have enough girl bowlers to field a team. In those cases girls allowed to bowl on the boys team (in many of these circumstances the girl or girls are among the best on the team). Five of the 15 SOL schools went (both boys and girls). Top 2 in each division and a wildcard based on high team average of the rest.

Update: According to PIAA,org there are 149 Boys Bowling programs and 139 girls.

Update 2: All but 15 of those Boys programs come from 4 districts. Four districts have none, Three have two teams each. One has 9. Looks like only 39 of the 149 Boys programs are in the western region.

Pac, I saw that the Wilson boys finished second at states this weekend. Nice run. Daniel Boone finished fourth.

Girl from Governer Mifflin (Emily Garl) won the girls single title.

That greater Reading area is a hotbed of high school bowling.

Edit: Forgot About Muhlenburg girls team coming in second in Girls finals. More weight to my statement.

Edit #2: I just realized that the state finals matchups in both boys and girls team events, were the exact same matchups that occurred in the eastern regionals two weeks earlier, with the exact same outcome.

Bowling tryouts have begun for 18/19 High School season. Hoping for a good year.

You may now return to the Eagles suicide watch.

If I may for a moment....

Good season for my son. Led the Suburban One League American conference in average. On Friday he held on in the Eastern Regional singles tournament to secure a spot at States on March 15. Unfortunately the team missed out on states by 29 pins. Looking forward to see if he can continue to build on his breakout season.

That is all.

That's awesome! Good luck to him at states!

High school state singles tournament was today. After a grinding 6 games my son ended up in 9th place out of the 24. He was a bit ticked at himself, but a good season and he has one more to go.

Congrats to Colby Bennett of Cedar Crest who repeated as state boys champ. It was a good day for Cedar Crest high school as Paige Boyd won the girls crown.
