-- Pooholes joined the 3000-hit club tonight. He joins Aaron, Mays and A-Rod as the only players in history with 3000+ hits and 600+ HRs

-- This was a few days ago and I didn't see anyone mention it, but Josh Hader became the first pitcher in history with 8Ks in less than 3 innings (and he got the save)

Early, but NL holds a 24-14 edge in interleague play. AL has won more games the last 14 straight years.

The Mets, collectively, have 3 HR and 85 K against LHP this year, in 278 AB. Just a note for fantasy and/or FanDuel players... they're not facing a LHP tonight, sadly. But keep it in mind.

I was set to hate on Ben Zobrist about his shoe dispute, since I figured it was for some commercial deal, plus I don't think it's too much to ask that uniforms be mostly, um, uniform. But I think his reasons for the black shoes is cool. I now support shoes matching the team's uniform or any other color, as long as it's black.

Jon Heyman

source confirms cano is getting 80-game suspension for PEDs

Joel Sherman

Source says Cano suspension not fir PEDs. Hear it is for a diuretic that is treated in same fashion by MLB when it comes to penalties

Just looking at Ozzie Smith’s career numbers because of the front page article on ESPN’s baseball page. Interesting that you can really see in his career that he taught himself to be a much better hitter - really starting in his 30s. He was never any offensive juggernaut but he really put an approach together at the plate that allowed him to be quite serviceable starting around his age 30 season.

I still think MLB Network should show Japan League games.

yeah, can't say enough about that. really learned how to use the astro turf. .244 hitter on grass vs. .271 on turf

back in that era he was more than serviceable but a rather good situational number two hitter who got on base, or put the ball in play to move the runners.
