Well, he's headed for a Jayson Stark column either way, at least.

Hosmer has a .798 OPS and the Padres are 7-12. Need those win shares to kick in.

And Lucas Duda who replaced Hosmer for 1/40th the cost has a .814 OPS.

The Cincinnati Reds have fired manager Bryan Price after the team toiled through a 3-15 start in his fifth season with the club.

The Reds said in a statement Thursday morning that pitching coach Mack Jenkins has also been fired. Bench coach Jim Riggleman was named Cincinnati's interim manager. The statement said the Reds will conduct a search for a permanent manager "later in the year."

Baseball lifer Jim Riggleman returning from the murky depths that he cast himself into for yet another interim gig. I did not like the silly was the Nats dealt with this managers, Riggleman's exist, although dramatic, was also the height of pathetic (until you started seeing the pictures roll in of him drinking the day away with young coeds). Blackballing him left the question open if it was him, or his team carrying him. I honestly did not know he was in baseball at all anymore. A 6 year climb that restarted in AA. He'll be gone for 2019.

I'd always wondered if he had stayed if it would have worked out differently, and I would have been deprived of seeing the WTF Matt Williams experiment go as predictably horrible as it did.
