the whole concept of slotting overslotting and guys going where they go based on if you spent more or less money earlier seems a bit goofy to me. that and the concept of the amount of guys who get picked and then decide 'nah, im not gona play now'.

Took our first flyer on HS LHP Shane Drohan in the 23rd round. #80 on MLB and #106 on BA. We will agonize for a month about whether he will sign or not but probably under 5% chance. Is an FSU commit. I feel a lot different about this draft if you take him in the 3rd round over Seabold.

The dream is already over it appears:

The Philadelphia Phillies selected Shane Drohan with the eighth pick in the 23rd round (683 overall), but it does not appear he will be heading to the Phillies’ system.

“It’s been an honor to be on this ride all the (way) up up to the draft,” Drohan said in a text message. “I want to thank the Philadelphia Phillies for giving me the opportunity to start my professional career, but I will be attending Florida State University.”
