i never understood katoh. has it proven to be worthwhile at all? every time i saw something it had prospects ranked outside of the top 100 ranked really high and what not.

No idea but I recall it was high on Cozens and Hoskins before the industry caught up.

Announced as being from Hazleton, PA

Per Keith Law, the Phils tried to sign him out of the Dominican Republic like any other international signing, but it was determined he had to go into the draft instead because he attended Hazleton Area HS, even though he never played for their team

This is really confusing. The Phillies already have a guy by that not particularly common name in extended spring training.

add to the mystery....the Phillies.com transaction page shows us signing a guy by the same name and same ht/wt like 2-3 months ago and assigning him to the DSL.
