Other than Moniak, it does not appear Phillies are very good a negotiating below slot outside of college Seniors. I'm still surprised at how much Gowdy and Irvin got last year.

Not sure there was a reason to go overslot. Weird draft up top. Lewis got more than I thought he would and the Braves gave Wright way overslot. I'd have dared him to go throw another year in college.

First post was already updated, but the Phils made it official that 7 of the top 10 are signed. Just waiting on #3 Seabold (just eliminated from CWS), #5 Lindow (HS expected to sign) and #6 Guthrie (still in CWS)

Yeah, not sure why there's ever any reason to go overslot on a college kid and you'd also think that you would've worked out a pre-draft deal or know if he would sign for slot when you picked him. WHt leverage does he have? No, I wont sign? Then we say, well good luck with the lower pick bonus as a lower pick or college next season? Doesn't make sense to me.

So other than the four CWS players and Lindow, our signings should be done already. All the other unsigned kids are round 29 and later

Haseley wearing the Pete Happy #7 jersey

Almaraz: "really good chance" he starts at Clearwater after getting back into baseball shape after a few weeks off, but will leave that decision to Joe Jordan. Thinks Haseley will play all three OF spots and hit 25-30 HRs

Haseley says he'll get stronger, build up power and be less sore after games now that he doesn't have to worry about pitching

scout Paul Murphy given credit for this pick/signing

Here is a little information about Colby Fitch. It was in an article from yesterday about a number of below the radar guys including this Grandson of a former 76er. Here is all it had to say:

Fitch, a junior at Louisville, spent the last two seasons fighting for playing time with the 32nd pick in last year’s draft Will Smith. That didn’t keep him from making his mark while Smith was still at the school. In 2016 he hit .339 in 108 at bats, and while that dropped to .260 as the full time starter in 2017, he more than made up for it with his command of the Cardinals pitching staff.

With Fitch behind the plate, the Louisville pitchers ranked in the top 15 nationally in ERA, walks, and strikeouts. His power numbers jumped appropriately to his increase in playing time as well, home runs more-than-doubling from five to eleven. That’s one of the things the Phillies like about their 13th round pick. He was ranked 254th by Baseball America entering the draft.

Since TCU curbed Louisville I expect he sings soon.
