Are they speculating?

Not sure. But apparently they were told that MLB is in the middle of drafting a press release right now..I'm waiting to hear from a friend with MLB though.

Why would you ever throw out your ticket stub from a potential game clincher??

People are bound to have lost them.

I had to take my friend's ticket and dry it out on the counter last night with a hair dryer, it was really wet and it's a damn good thing it wasn't ruined.

I am sure more average fans' tickets were ruined or lost. After sneaking in I was searching for tickets on the ground. Did they have Print-At-Home tickets? I thought I saw some lying on the ground but I couldn't tell if it was just soaking wet trash.

Yeh, this is what gets me. If Cole had to throw an inning in horrible conditions, the Rays' pitcher should have been forced to endure the same. That second run scored largely because of the elements, not because the Rays deserved it. It was impossible to hold the runner on and we're lucky Ruiz didn't throw the ball into CF during the steal.

Starting the game in the first place was bad, but Selig compounded it with the stupid decision to keep playing after the 4th. I've been watching baseball for 35 years and I've never seen any game played in anything like that. Selig really has the fecal touch.

Since the Phillies will have 4 innings to bat versus 3 for the Rays, the Rays will be spotted 4 runs. 6-2 Rays going into the bottom of the 6th.

The flip side is this: Without the benefit of hindsight, if you were given the choice of having Hamels go one more inning or suspending the game after the 5th, you'd probably choose the former. The fact that he gave up a run is only available in hindsight. Without knowing that fact, I'm happier the way it worked out because otherwise, when the game was resumed, Charlie might have brought in Durbin or Happ for the 6th and the result could have been even worse.

We got 6 quality innings from Hamels and the game is tied. We now have a 3 (and maybe a half) inning game where we get first and last AB and only need to cover 3 innings of relief with Madson, Romero and Lidge.

Heres another thing to consider.

The pitcher's spot is due up 4th in the Top of the 7th. If they bring in Price in the Bottom of the 6th, they really can't double switch. Right now the order is

Iwamura
Crawford
Upton
Pena
Longoria

That means Price is gonna bat in the 7th.

So I think we're facing either Howell or Miller if Manuel uses a lefty. I like that matchup better.

Am I the only one concerned with Ryan Madson, or another reliever for that matter, potentially 'starting' this game? If so, why shouldn't I be? I realize technically it's the middle of the game, but in effect, it would be like any other normal start as far as nerves, preparation, etc. If half of what I've been told my entire baseball watching life about pitchers needing to be on a routine, etc, is true; then isn't 'starting' a reliever a terrible idea? Why not Happ? I realize you normally wouldn't want James Anthony Happ 'starting' a World Series game, but wouldn't it be a more ideal choice than 'starting' a Madson or (god forbid) Durbin; OR burning thru a Myers or Blanton or Moyer?

Maybe the Rays should go with Edwin Jackson?

Concerned? Yes. But tempered by the fact they're facing 6-7-8.

If they didn't have David Price, who they've been grooming as a starter anyhow, I wouldn't be suprised if they did. While I've been taking the mentality that the Phils need to approach these final innings like Game 7 (b/c I want absolutely no part of this series if it goes back to Tampa. I'll take it to philaphans in just a second); Tampa obviously faces elimination if they lose. I think we need to be prepared to pull out all the stops

Do we have a Jesse Spano graemlin with "I'M SO SCARED!"?
