i keep chuckling to myself every time i think back to last night when Selig was holding the presser and on at least three occassions, tried to act like he got bunk info from 'weather services' and it was all their fault.

you're the goddamned commissioner of major league baseball. stick your hand or head out the nearby window and make a decision. you have the authority that if the game is in the 4th or 5th inning of a potential elimination game of the WORLD FUCKING SERIES and it's pouring down rain--comically so, at that--you, sir, have the power to 'pause' the game and not just call the whole thing off. the rules that would normally apply to a pittsburgh/cincinnati game in mid-may do not need to apply to this situation. put your big boy pants on and make the call

If they can't go tomorrow, and the game is finished on Thursday, that means that Cole will be available for Game 7 on full rest.

Unless they just want to leave him in Game 5 because, technically, he is still in the game.

That would be the weirdest complete game ever.

I have a feeling that the end of game 5 is going to be one of the weirdest, flukiest, dumbest things in the history of baseball. Nobody is going to feel like the game should be over when it ends, none of the relievers are going to be in the right mindset for the situation, etc.

It's just going to be a clusterf*ck and if even if we win it's probably not going to feel right.

if we win, it be portrayed by the media going forward that the philadelphia phillies had absolutely nothing to do with it. it will be all because of the rain, shitty umpiring, and perhaps philly phans booing and taunting newborns and pregnant tampa bay ray-supporting women forcing the great, heroic and courageous joe maddon to call the series off in defense of his loved ones.

Its funny. Because if we'd just won this series in 5 games, in normal fashion, the only storyline would have been how unlucky the Rays were, and how they deserved better. Now, because of this fiasco, the only thing people will remember about this World Series is the rain/suspended game. And the Rays.

If anyone knows the actual answer to this please post. I am trying to figure out if we should move an event I had scheduled for tomorrow night to Thursday. It goes from 7 to 9. If the actual game isn't starting until 9 I don't think we will move it but if "first pitch" is at 8:37 we will.
