Fox's pre-game crap won't start until 8:30 because of Obama's address, so I believe game time will be delayed, too.

Do they really need to extensive pre-game crap? I mean, it's just a long delay, right? No anthem, no player intros, just get out and play ball.

good point. it's like the judge saying, "you're still under oath" - we've still pledged our allegiance.

well, the game might start at 8:37 or whatever, but then the rays will do a pitching change after we announce our PH, so first actual pitch probably won't be until 8:45 or so.

if we win, it be portrayed by the media going forward that the philadelphia phillies had absolutely nothing to do with it. it will be all because of the rain, $#@! umpiring, and perhaps philly phans booing and taunting newborns and pregnant tampa bay ray-supporting women forcing the great, heroic and courageous joe maddon to call the series off in defense of his loved ones.

that's fine by me because if we win, i'm just going to watch the homer coverage by CSN

I fucking love that he brought a rule book with him to the press conference.

Ryan (NY): Do the Rays have to move to another hotel again?

SportsNation Buster Olney: (1:32 PM ET ) Ryan: I haven't asked that question in the last hour, but I heard (or read) that the hotel they are in today is booked up for tonight, and they may have to move. I'll try to find out here before the chat is over.

Now that is funny.

Shane's dad on WIP. 30 of the Victorino's came, in that 30 is Shane's significant other who is from Alaska and some of her (maybe his?) family.

Nice. When do you guys think the Rays will pitch Shields? They wouldn't hold until then, would they? He's the only one in that staff who scares me.

Breaking news..

Breaking news- The weather will not effect the Flyers/Thrashers game in ATL tonight though if Atlanta ties the game early in the 3rd period, Bud Selig will cease play until he determines a more suitable time to play.

Of course they don't "need" it, but I'm sure Fox will want to squeeze in as many commercial minutes before the game, especially considering how bad the ratings have been.

so with charlie having two full days to mull it over, what do you think the odds are that we still end up with taguchi vs. price to lead off the bottom of the 6th, and durbin pitching the 7th? this really better not be the case.

it's not the end of the world to use pat burrell in the field for the last three innings. they really ought to use bruntlett. or even just leave in stairs vs price. and i don't think jenkins against balfour is a valid bluff, cus they'll just have balfour strike him out.

with the 1-2 hitters of the rays both being lefty, i think it really would be smartest to let madson pitch to the 6-7-8 hitters and bring in romero whenever the 1-2 hitters come up.

other thoughts-- the phillies better petition the shit out of mlb to get an extra offday. having cole in the waiting for game 7 would make me feel better about our odds going back to tampa bay.

iggles blog guy wrote:Here's the central problem with being a Philadelphia fan. It's not that our teams never win. Oh no, it's that because they never win, we can't even enjoy it when they do.

The Phillies are up 3-1. They have four chances to score versus only three for the Rays. Our bullpen has been lights out all series. Even if we don't put this away tomorrow (or Wednesday?) we still have two more chances.

And I feel sick.
