Does anyone think the difference was the Rockies were a hot team mediocre team on one of the hottest streaks in the history of baseball? and the phillies are a really good team that's just playing good ball the last 2 months?

Yes, that is absolutely the difference and it should be obvious to anyone with a brain in his/her head. Of course, that pretty much rules out most commentators on ESPN and Fox.

Now they can play loosey goosey in game 2, which I think will be particularly helpful for Myers.

But he's assuming Dobbs plays 3B.

A win is a win. If the Phillies stole one, I don't care. I'm not too concerned about the LOBs, seeing that they won anyway. Tomorrow is another day to drive 'em in. Why did they win? Cole + Madson + Lidge. The Rays had very few LOBs because they had far fewer baserunners. Also, Phillies pitching walked 2 batters vs. the Rays walking 6. I think if the Phillies continue to hit near as well as they did tonight (and with Jimmy, Howard, and Pat having hopefully gotten their rusty game out of the way) things will be alright offense-wise. Great once again to win a game 1! Woooohooooo!!!

And what percentage of the 2004 Red Sox do we suppose were on steroids?

Also: the radio guys noted the difference between FOX's radar, which had Madson at 95/96, and the stadium's radar, which had him at 91/92. My guess is it's FOX inflating the numbers to make it look better and more exciting.

Anyway, it's hard to believe the Phillies won that game. They tried so very hard not to do so.

I'm certainly glad they failed!

Hey, I was pleased to see that many guys on base. I'd take that many on base every night, and takes me chances, you know?

rays were fortunate to lose by a single run

you're correct, get them on & take your chances
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

I definitely think the off time helped the Phillies, rather than hurt them. Chase has been banged up, but he obviously looked better tongiht. Why? Off time. Howard was hardly swinging the bat so well that an off period was going to cool him off; granted, he looked more lost than ever tonight, but I don't really think that's attributable to the off time. Hamels loves off time.

I just don't see how it was that much of a negative for the Phillies.

Why is it a problem that we left so many on base? I mean I get it but isn't it more of a problem that the Rays didn't get many on to begin with.
