Obama started his presser. Talked about the progress made with economy and equality under his administration, now discussing the tragedy of Aleppo and need for a different regime then Assad. HE SAID MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR and is now taking questions...

He said he made sure he was 'playing it straight' and had a one-on-one with Putin in September at G20 to make sure the tampering stopped. It did but the 'leaks through wikileaks' had already occurred.

He called wikileaks out directly. That's a new thing, from what I can tell.

He finds it curious people are so surprised it looked like it was disadvantaging Clinton...because 'you guys were writing about it every day'. he called it an obsession, including John Podesta's risotto recipe.

Says it was not an elaborate espionage but it says something about our system that it so influenced it. He called what was in the emails 'pretty routine stuff with some embarrassing stuff but nothing that isn't in many people's emails and it 'took off'. Says everyone had the information (we did; she mentioned it in the last fucking debate and no one cared).

Oh, outgoing NC Governor McCrory signed the bills to strip the incoming Governor Cooper of much of his power.

the system works!

I agree with the sentiment that one of the negative consequences of this Russian story is that the DNC won't have any level of self reflection.

Did they pack the state supreme court too? If they do that then it's over. Democrats have no chance of overturning. I guess they could go to the real supreme court...but it will take forever.

Yet. Hopefully never. At least they can get struck there in a far too long and drawn out legal battle. What a vile group of people the NCGOP is.

PHILADELPHIA (CNN) — In several former Soviet republics, top security officials and even a former president are saying “I told you so” amid allegations of possible Russian hacking targeting the US presidential election campaign.

“Some things you discovered now as new in your pre-election campaign we’ve been seeing it already for years,” Janis Garisons, Secretary of State in Latvia’s Defense Ministry, told CNN.

Latvian government agencies come under frequent cyber attacks and other forms of hsybrid warfare that he believes originate from Russia, he said.

“For me, it’s déjà vu,” former Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili told CNN.

“In 2012, they (Russia) were heavily involved in Georgian elections. They’ve done cyber attacks over different time periods. They’ve done all kinds of media provocations. They’ve spread rumors. They’ve sent operatives to do all kinds of dirty tricks. And back then my friends from the US Embassy were saying ‘you’re over-reacting,'” added Saakashvili, who served two consecutive terms as president in Georgia before stepping down in 2013.

Damn, he went in on Russia:

"They are a small country, they are a weak country, they don't produce anything that anybody wants to buy"

It's sort of amazing to watch Obama, ever the Institutionalist, sipping coffee in the house on fire saying "This is fine."

Democrats spent months celebrating "When they go low, we go high."

Then Obama went high and they're apparently pissed about it?

this wasn't "going high." like, yeah, obama should take the high road when djt is out there talking about his weiner and obama not being a citizen or whatever. foreign interference in our elections is a different ballgame

democrats "went high" by donating to NC GOP when their field office got burned down and they're being repaid richly for that right now
