The more I think about the Russia thing, the more plausible it seems--we know that during the cold war, the KGB used a lot of resources to influence American politics, not just through funding the CPUSA, but the anti-war movement and so forth. It would not be at all difficult to take that expertise and use it to turn from manipulating the left to manipulating the right.

Sigh.

First one who might not get confirmed. On the committee Rubio's the only major Russia hawk. Kaine's on it for the Dems. The hearings will be interesting.

the Tillerson nomination is bizarre, even by drumpf standards

Mark Salter @MarkSalter55
Tillerson would sell out NATO for Sakhalin oil and his pal, Vlad. Should be a rough confirmation hearing, and a no vote on the Senate floor.

When all of the nominations should probably be blocked, likely none of them will.

Someone's got to stand up to him. Let's hope it doesn't get to the point where it has to be the military.

It seems to me the timing of the Tillerson nomination and the CIA allegations is really bad for Trump. Indeed, I wonder if this wasn't leaked in order to maximize the damage to Trump.

It's not about him beng "a" CEO. He's CEO of fucking Exxon. Exxon is practically globalism's brand. Plus Exxon's general, and Tillerson's specific, history of circlejerking with Russkies. Plus Tillerson's conflicts of interest being almost as innumerable as drumpf's. Plus his only employer has ever been Exxon. Plus any other fucking thing you want to add.

If you're looking to incinerate any goodwill with your base, and almost any Congresspeople, he's the guy you push for that position. But by all means, approve him. Let him continue to use his Exxon office as his office, why not.

And require, say, Tom Cotton, or Cornyn, or Cruz, or McConnell - hell, let them tag-team the job - to hold his dick every time he takes a piss.

Directelection.org

The purpose of this site is to help you send your own signed postal letters to the members of the Electoral College from states won by Donald Trump to ask them, respectfully, not to vote for Trump.

The electors have already received a ton of e-mail and news attention, but a personal letter means a lot more. A single good old-fashioned, voter-to-voter personal letter is probably worth a thousand e-mails.

How realistic is it that we can politely convince enough electors to abandon Trump (and choose the popular-vote winner Hillary Clinton instead)? Admittedly, the chances are slim, but this is our only shot! Nothing else at this point, other than swaying the electors, can stop Trump from becoming president. Let’s not throw away our shot!
I would rather see you lose than win myself
