Well if they were literally showing the Clinton camp their stories, that's a huge no no. But I doubt it.

Hard for me to believe the mainstream media weren't a pretty big win for Trump on balance -- in terms of free coverage and effects of decades of GOP wolf crying

MSM had Trump surrogates or Trump on sharing his views round the clock. They also hired his former campaign manager for god's sake. there's of course flaws with the media but Brantt & the likeminded folks dismiss them because they're not comfortable challenging their preconceived narrative about Trump.

I'm gone?

I mean let's be real here, everything I said about this election a year ago, which I was absolutely mocked for on here, came to fruition. I was the one who was totally in touch with the mood of the country while this board as a whole couldn't have been more wrong on Trump in both the primaries and the general. Anyone who didn't see this coming simply isn't exposed to working class people on a daily basis.

The fact of the matter is people like me who voted for Obama x2 and supported Trump this cycle numbered in the millions. Pretty shocking that nobody on this board seemingly even knew one.

I don't doubt that most in the media are likely liberal and/or slanted against Trump. But let's be honest there's not much "news" anymore, it's all varying shades of entertainment. And their first allegiance is to clicks and viewership. Trump gave them TONS of it. Kept feeding them horseshit to run with and they eagerly gobbled it up for their own benefit.

I mean we all did it here. Probably 80% of the man's tweets were posted here

I'm exposed to 'working class people' on a daily basis. That's really neither here nor there.you can look through my posts if you want to see where I took the man for granted past his initial crazy speech. Once he rose in the polls he was as real as any of the other clowns in that primary.

None of that changes the shitshow we are in for.

FWIW, I don't necessarily include you in the group. I disagree with you on almost everything but actually enjoy reading your stuff.

If the msm paid 1/4 as much time to Trump's business dealings as they did to Clinton's emails, Hillary would be preparing with her transition team. And that doesn't count all the free media he got. The only thing bad we heard about Trump was the racism/sexism/campaign violence stuff and that all seemed to help him or at least not hurt him much.

But the FBI is the thing that really gets me. The media is about making money and getting clicks. That's a given and we shouldn't realistically expect them to not act in their own best financial interest (well, we should, but that's another post). But the FBI shouldn't be acting politically in any capacity. I find the turn at the FBI every bit as scary as Trump's cabinet choices.

The fact is without the main stream media as currently constituted there would be no candidate Trump. Never in the history of the Republic has there been candidate more favored by the media than Trump. He is a creature of the mass media. Even when there was the appearance of criticism, the result was in fact fawning and adoring admiration. This was especially the case during early primaries. Even more serious minded outlets than the nonsense one finds on television, in attempting to appear "unbiased" were unforgivably guilty of false equivalency. There was a complete absence of policy oriented coverage--no mention of the economic devastation that could follow a 45% tariff on goods imported from China for instance.

Jesse Rodriguez ‏@JesseRodriguez
Reporting by @NBCNews @HansNichols: Rudy Giuliani now being considered for Director of National Intelligence

This is may be the dumbest one yet. Holy shit.

Why would anyone want Rudy Giuliani to be DNI? Why would Rudy Giuliani want to be DNI?

They'll expand the role of the position, and not in a good way, while lessening the roles of places they don't control.

It will be a power grab.

I have to say, this is pretty fucking hilarious

its funny in theory but if you zoom in on the pic you see plans for a "346 mile wall" and something about voter rolls, probably purging them. so really its bad.

One thing that has me hopeful--Trump shutting out the media may actually get them off their asses and have a properly adversarial role with regards to the President and other politicians. Instead of simply taking the canned BS that politicians feed them, maybe they'll do some actual reporting instead of sitting in some studio somewhere reciting talking points.

Eh, probably not though.
