They'll need the extra time for all the gold and marble to be installed at the White House and for the new Trump signage.

Priebus announced they will attempt to bar immigration from 'certain countries' or regions that have terrorism. People fleeing terrorism are going to be denied entry because they are fleeing terrorism.

The criteria also seems to simply mean Muslim terrorism.

I can't be the only one who thinks "Mons Pubis" every time he sees Reince Priebus, right?

so Trump won't stay at the white house so we can't track who he's talking to. Probably has a special line installed to the Kremlin.

Don't you think people like Romney should be doing whatever they can to make this administration work? How does that say anything about his backbone or moral compass?

I could not disagree more. Showing you have no intestinal fortitude when you not only fail to back up your words, but absolutely capitulate, makes you small and spineless. I would much prefer that he behaved like a man and backed his words up by trying to fix the party, and politics in the US. Being SoS, and in line to be fired and smeared at an opportune moment, seems like he is not only giving up the high ground, but is being pretty short sighted. Keep your friends close, and enemies closer, no?

guess I fall on the Romney doesn't seem like as bad a person as everyone else Trump surrounds himself with so I'd welcome some non-full insanity influencing our foreign policy.

I'd prefer Romney to the collection of racists and fools Trump's bringing in, but that's a low bar.

Personally, I think Romney could do more from the outside, but I'm sure he'd love a position so he can run for president again with more items on his resume. Right now, he's filling the rich guy with an opinion position, which pays well but doesn't necessarily help him take the next step. He's got that white horse destiny to fulfill, you know.

I'd rather have Romney as SoS than the rest of one of the loons that are probably going to get it.

I doubt Romney would have much influence. Think how they manipulated Colin Powell.

me too, but I don't trust him to do anything except what Trump says, so I doubt there would be much difference betwen romney and whoever else might get it.

To me, what is really needed is some people in the GOP who are willing to say no to Trump. And I mean say it loudly while encouraging others to do the same. He can't do that as SoS. I think he can do more good outside the administration encouraging moderates to stand up to this craziness.

Romney could win back my respect if he did it and was a genuine force of opposition within the party.

Priebus called the idea that President-elect Mr. Trump has conflicts of interest 'ridiculous'.

I think it's all fine, guys. Let's keep talking about Hamilton!

Why lie?

He specifically said under no circumstances would they create a registry based on any specific religion. He said they are not going to rule out anything on creating a registry of people coming into the country.

Basically they are talking about re-starting the NSEERS program that was put in place post-9/11.

the program was pretty clearly used as a precursor to register/deny people from muslim-majority nations. It ended up doing nothing to stop anything, instead only harassing people that wanted to contribute to our society. They go through a normal process regardless of the reinstatement of this program.

The War on Terror has no end game and creates more problems than it stopped. For those enamored with the idea of eventually de-engaging from the world re-instituting this program and bringing back other aspects of the WoT would be counter to their goal as they would simply be new recruiting tools for the groups we are actually against.
