For example, when Trump launched into an inexplicable attack on the parents of a Muslim-American soldier who died in combat, the Kremlin assumed the Republican nominee was showing himself psychologically unfit to be president and would be forced by his party to withdraw from the race. As a result, Moscow put its hacking campaign temporarily on hold, ending the distribution of documents until Trump stabilized, both personally and in the polls, according to reports provided to Western intelligence.

Eichenwald has led me astray on several items. I've stopped trusting his sources. He was right with one big story but has grasped for 'big' stories ever since.

IIRC Bush was thought to have a small but clear lead (~2 points) nationally. People thought he was a strong favorite in Florida and made fun of gore for campaigning there the last week.

There'd be a whole different set of storylines. But just as much fear-mongering and disinformation. We'd be hearing non-stop about the evils of democratic socialism. Trump's campaign against Bernie may not have been as ugly as his campaign against Hillary so he might have actually appeared less insane than he does now. I think some repubs voting for Hillary would find it harder to vote for Bernie. But there'd be more of a groundswell from younger people for Bernie. Maybe it'll be Bernie vs. Trump in 2020!

I am imagining that the "FBI" report that it is "99% sure" that the email server was hacked "at least 9 times" by "at least 5 foreign services" is completely made up. I saw no credible sources, but it apparently made its way from internet lore to FOX News last night.

Nothing to see here, or correct me.

At this point, who really knows if it's an FBI leak or a conspiracy theory. It's a mess.

I don't know, before all the misinformation got so thick in the last few months, it didn't seem too controversial to assume that the server was hacked many times. many security experts (though often anonymous) said as much in multiple interviews and articles
