whats the take on Pence and others being in Michigan? Is it more Trump on the offensive because he thinks he has everything else firmed up or is it because he is desperate and needs to flip a state like that to win?

It's definitely the latter. If he loses NC, he will need a blue state.

It's also probably an ego thing. He probably genuinely believes that he can win Michigan.

I don't think that's true. If Trump can win NC, FL, NV, NH, OH, and IA, he won't need a blue state. If he loses FL or OH, it's over regardless. If he loses one of NC, IA, or NH, he will need a state like MI.

And he still has to keep AZ and GA.

He's going to win Ohio and New Hampshire. NC and Florida are tossups. He will thus need another state since PA is in for Clinton. AZ and Georgia, I don't trust are Democratic in a presidential race YET.

I don't think NH is such a sure thing for Trump.

I've been assured Trump is not winning Nevada or New Hampshire.

the 'firewall' is MI/WI/PA/CO and one of NH/NV. At least that's what I typically have seen listed as her firewall. At some point she led all of them by 8+. Those matter first. Everything else is icing for Clinton. Thus, Trump must win one of those (and basically has to win every remaining battleground if he only takes one of those).

I believe you're thinking of VA. I don't think NV or NH are part of the firewall.

Oh yeah, VA is there too but it's so far in the blue that I don't even think it needs to be counted. But sure, you can add it in.

I've always thought it was the traditional blue states. CO and VA are being mentioned this year because Hillary is so far ahead.
