The senate keeps looking better each day. At this point Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana are locks to flip. Looks like Nevada will stay blue. That means Ds need one of PA, NC, MO, or NH. NH seems to be the most sure thing followed by PA. They have a decent chance to win all 4. That would be a 53-47 Senate.

538 has been saying that the Senate tends to break late and break together. Looks like it may be happening a little earlier this year. The big fear is that people will consciously split tickets for a 'check' on the president. I feel like they might be overstated given how partisan the country has become. We didn't get a Republican congress to check Obama...we got it because Democrats shit the bed.

Kander is only 35. Don't know a ton about him other than generic facts like "veteran," but if he can win the MO seat, he might get a shot at being one of those young faces the party desperately needs.

And that wasn't due to voters splitting their ticket anyway. That was just a historically bad version of a midterm blowback election.

Yeah, sorry, that's what I mean. Splitting now seems like such an 'old' mentality (i.e. 20-30 years) in today's hyper-partisan environment.

Quick glance at "on the issues" rundown of him:

1) Wants to drug test welfare recipients (2011)
2) Against fast tracking TPP (2015)

Those are the two biggest issues I see counter to normalish liberal views. He seems pro-choice, pro-LGBTQ rights, believes in climate change, etc.
Quick Google shows that GoGo is wrong with regards to the Kiwi and the Banana.

Weren't a lot of libs also opposed to fast track? I mean, they certainly were when a Republican was President.

And given Hillary's unfavorable rating, I can't imagine that there will be a substantial percentage of people voting for her who wouldn't be inclined to vote a straight Dem ballot. The polls seem to show that most republican defections will go third-party, and I suspect that there will ultimately be fewer defections than current polling suggests.

big on charter schools, scapegoating welfare recipients, some of my personal pet peeves.

many people view opposing fast-track as a good thing, including me, actually. I didn't see why it couldn't be debated through the normal means.
