we're not making any of those for people without college degrees who get displaced by coal jobs shutting down

Truthfully, I'm probably just more sickened by a state getting together to pray for the energy industry, an industry that doesn't give two shits about them or their families.

The thing about oilfield work is it's quite lucrative for people with few skills. The work is hard and dangerous, to be sure, and much of means working in not especially nice places. But the reality is the oil industry has in fact given a lot of people with not a lot of education a decent job. Obviously, it's not out of kindness or generosity, but it's never fun when good paying jobs go away--those people are not likely to land on their feet doing something else.

As far as diversification, I think it's Oklahoma where they have a ton of wind based power generation. So does Texas for that matter. To be sure, economic diversification sounds like something Oklahoma should do, but it's not other places haven't been unsuccessful with similar problems.

Fair enough, but it gives me the creeps that they would worship the industry like that.

Ours eventually, if we work for it. Weren't people all about redoing all sorts of stuff in the primary? Expand retraining, which is a plan Clinton has put forward, incentivize clean energy, redo our infrastructure (something Bernie is about) etc. It's not a short -term solution and it costs money but that's what people were voting for previously. I thought.

Not really sure what one has to do with the other. Bernie wasn't going to cut the military in any significant manner, either. We can raise funds for domestic programs anyway. ND it's not just about 2 years of what a president can try to do, it's creating long-term coalitions and goals to pass this stuff. That entails changing federal Congress and state-level initatives that are taking place in some states already.

Apparently, the women who work on NBC's Today and behind the scenes were creeped out by Bush. Publicists also expressed their discomfort with letting their clients do interviews with him.

Maybe Trump will hire him.

But our military is a mess. We need more ships and brand new nuclear weapons and stuff like that.

Vote Trump!!!

I forgot who Corey Stewart, fired VA 4 Trump guy, is day to day. He is the hardcore nut case I dropped a BSG bomb on a few years ago for being a nut job. He is a supervisor for Prince William County in Northern Virginia, which most notable city is Manassas, a major suburb of DC. While in his official capacity he has done some pretty sketchy things like try to put through a version of stopping frisk to check the legitimate status of any foreigner. Foreigner in this case would seems an awful lot like anyone who's not maybe white. He's done a couple of other choice things too, but he is probably the most Trump like sitting elected official that I can think of. He was sort of Trump before there was Trump. Minus the money however, and thank God lacking in National stage.

He spent a lot of effort trying to beat Ryan in the primary, and they barely got anyone to vote against Ryan when offered the option to vote for another Republican. The number of people who would normally vote Republican and will actually put something like that into practice can probably be counted using your fingers and maybe toes.

Remember several months back when Peggy Noonan wept for what had become of her beloved Grand Old Party? She must be getting ready to kick the chair out from under herself now.

Peggy Noonan hasn't mattered outside of cocktail parties since the 90s. Trump is still pushing her precious tax cuts and deregulation. I sort of enjoy her having a bad day if it wasn't for the fact that a lunatic is in charge of her party.
