Has the word poverty even been mentioned in either debate? I feel like it must have been, but I cannot recall. With the timing of the announcement I would guess that it was going to be brought up in the debate, but couldn't find a great spot to squeeze it in. Waiting until the 3rd debate would have been too long, IMO.
I don't recall ever hearing the word "poverty" mentioned or even anything similar. And we know climate change hasn't been discussed.
No big deal. Just two of the biggest issues facing our world today.
Hillary touched on climate change when America's teddy bear Ken Bone asked about energy, here's the blurb from the transcript:
Secretary Clinton wrote:So I have a comprehensive energy policy, but it really does include fighting climate change, because I think that is a serious problem. And I support moving toward more clean, renewable energy as quickly as we can, because I think we can be the 21st century clean energy superpower and create millions of new jobs and businesses.
Trump also mentioned inner-city poverty, but no policy on how to help it.
Also the first debate had this exchange after calling Trump out for his hoax claim:
Secretary Clinton wrote:The science is real. And I think is important that we grip this and deal with it both at home and abroad. And here’s what we can do - we can deploy a half a billion more solar panels. We can have enough clean energy to power every home. We can build a new modern electric grid. That’s a lot of jobs. That’s a lot of new economic activity. So I've tried to be very specific about what we can and should do. And I am determined that we are going to get the economy really moving again. Building on the progress we've made over the last eight years but never going back to what got us in trouble in the first place.
