Adam Weinstein @AdamWeinstein
Speaking as someone who has a story coming this week: This is just the beginning for Manafort. It gets worse.

The media smells blood. I don't blame them, this Manafort/Pro-Kremlin story is juicy.

Rudy's comment was crappy on a couple of levels (bad math & it's unfair to imply attacks by Islamist radicals in the past few years are Obama's fault I think), but listening to his statement it follows him talking about Pence and the Patriot Act. Pretending Rudy is forgetting 9/11 is a lot more ridiculous than his line.

Pretending that he forgot about 9/11 is ridiculous. Taking him to task, though, for portraying terrorist attacks as the responsibility of one party or another, when his main claim to fame is handling the 9/11 attacks as a unifying tragedy shared by all Americans equally, is appropriate and should be disappointing, if you can still be disappointed by Giuliani.

I mean sure. But if he had said 7 years instead of 8 I don't think his comment would've gotten any attention at all, regardless of the wisdom of attaching responsibility for various attacks on who was president at the time. I am fairly sure he's aware 9/11 happened and that George Bush was president when it happened.

It was a dumb thing he said because he was stretching to make an attack without great source material. He deserves shit for the misspeak and the overreach. But the condemnations are over the top, not least of which the NYDN cover (though I guess that's not unexpected), or missing the context in which he was speaking.

You may not like to read this but you're part of the reason why the Republicans nominated Trump. Every so often your instinct to defend this rhetoric by demagogues kicks in and it's disappointing. You know exactly what Giuliani was trying to do, yet to defend him.

But that seems to be par for the course. That's how Republicans have handled Trump.

The real question is why didn't Rudy prevent the attack on the Twin Towers?

The context itself is absurd. He attempted to take to task the Obama administration for not stopping attacks and cites how terror-free we were previously. We weren't. We absolutely weren't. He should know. He does know. He's using a trick.

Erica Smegielski (daughter of Sandy Hook Principal, spoke at DNC) appeared in a pro-Toomey ad citing his push for stronger background checks.

Clinton is in Philly today to get voters registered to vote

i bet we'll hear more stories of 'voter fraud' come November when certain obvious precincts go 100% for Clinton just as they did Obama.

Fifteen Guantánamo detainees who had been held without trial for about 14 years have been sent to the United Arab Emirates, the Pentagon says. It is the largest single transfer under President Obama, whose goal of closing the prison before he leaves office appears unlikely.

How lovely! Ivanka vacations in Croatia with her close friend Wendy Deng

her close friend is the ex-wife of Rupert Murdoch, the ex-lover of Tony Blair and current lover of Vladimir Putin.

When I was in middle school this was the "It takes one to know one" tactic. Pretty soon Trump's attacks will be followed by "infinity, no backsies."
