Goldman Sachs makes money for its shareholders, Donald Trump makes money solely for himself

our current president and the Democratic nominee are big fans who approve of their activities, which is pretty close

'big fans' is quite a way to put it. Have you read the actual plan? It would attack shadow banking pretty significantly. the Democratic party platform calls for reinstating Glass-Steagal (which wouldn't have done anything in 2008, but anyway) and President Obama and Congress passed a decent law in Dodd-Frank which has restricted some issues. edit: also has a decent corporate inversion plan

They're not really the same.

this sucks and reflects poorly on Trump as a businessman but isn't this basically how American big business has worked for half a century? you start a business, you incorporate, the bigwigs get paid a massive salary, and if the whole thing goes in the tank, the investors hold the bag. Goldman Sachs and all their pals are just as devious

Capital investors have become very, very aware of these tactics over the years. Nowadays if you start a business and get investment capital the investors will make sure there are limits to your compensation as an employee and will be sure to have adequate representation on your board to monitor things. As for public companies, we all know about the egregious amounts executives make in collusion with their Boards. In Trump's case, if the investors did not adequately review the IPO docs and ensure that they were protected from these sorts of shenanigans, they've got no one to blame but themselves.

I think some of those practices have been cleaned up a bit post SOX (i.e., implementing say on pay vote that usually will be subject to an ISS recommendation for public company, implementing 280G golden parachute rules, etc)

I think the licensing fees are arguably less objectionable too as (right or wrong) so much of the "value" is in the brand

Certainly he seems unconcerned with interesed director transactions. Must have a deep bench of "independent" directors and shitty goodwill valuations to trot out for these companies

This is just fabulous. These are tweets by Trump, 10 in total, all posted yesterday.

Here they are as they were tweeted:

The failing @nytimes talks about anonymous sources and meetings that never happened. Their reporting is fiction. The media protects Hillary!

The failing @nytimes, which never spoke to me, keeps saying that I am saying to advisers that I will change. False, I am who I am-never said

If the disgusting and corrupt media covered me honestly and didn't put false meaning into the words I say, I would be beating Hillary by 20%

My rallies are not covered properly by the media. They never discuss the real message and never show crowd size or enthusiasm.

Crooked Hillary Clinton is being protected by the media. She is not a talented person or politician. The dishonest media refuses to expose!

I am not only fighting Crooked Hillary, I am fighting the dishonest and corrupt media and her government protection process. People get it!

It is not "freedom of the press" when newspapers and others are allowed to say and write whatever they want even if it is completely false!

I have always been the same person-remain true to self. The media wants me to change but it would be very dishonest to supporters to do so!

"Stay on message" is the chant. I always do - trade, jobs, military, vets, 2nd A, repeal Ocare, borders, etc - but media misrepresents!

Certain Republicans who have lost to me would rather save face by fighting me than see the U.S.Supreme Court get proper appointments. Sad!

/end rant

#7 is King. Where Trump wants to (wrongly) use the term ironic, he nails it there if only applied to himself.

What I would not give for a viable third candidate.

several reporters have stated they aren't allowed to stand around the front or near the podium and take photographs looking out to the crowd. wonder why The Donald wouldn't actually want photos of his crowds?

Well, yeah, and when you ban media outlets from your rallies it's a little weak to then complain about incorrect or lack of coverage.

Just when you think the Trump campaign and his supporters can't get any more despicable, they're spreading rumors that Hillary is secretly ill and basically old and dilapidated.

That's just disgusting.

Yeah, Hannity did a week-long push on it either last week or the week before. It was completely shameless.

You can excuse Rudy. He wasn't really close to the situation.
