It was a good read about Katy Tur's Brilliant Career, if you're interested in her. As a portrait of how political news-gathering is done, it struck me as just remarkably depressing and callow. Occasionally gave me pangs of sympathy for The Donald, which I'll probably have to stick my fingers down my throat to cleanse.
how did you gather all that after not reading the whole thing?
I read a lot. There was a lot of white space.
There I finished it.
I like reading about life on the campaign trail. As she mentions, the Boys on the Bus is something everyone should read. The article works fine if you want some insight into what a reporter's life is like, or at least what A reporter's life is like, though I'm solidly in Joan Didion's camp and it mostly leaves me appalled from that viewpoint. And it doesn't really have anything new or fresh or insightful to say about anything other than her personal life. I guess I was looking for the point of why you recommended that article and missed it. It is the best article I have ever read on how Katy Tur does her job. Having never heard of her before and not being convinced I should have, it's not really for me.
