No idea how this is going to affect our relations, probably not very well since Erdogan has already claimed we were behind it. As for peace in our lifetime, forget about it. The mid-90s were the closest thing any of us will ever see. We're much closer to 1913 than 2013 as well.

I worry greatly that our #1 ally in NATO is being taken over by a man using religion to coalesce an impenetrable force and basically end democracy.
