Strongman competition results thread aka politics

posting this here instead of the weed thread since it's about medical relief and not toking up

after a whole bunch of hoo-ha and amendments, the PA house is voting today on medical marijuana. If passed it has to go back to the senate who has already passed several bills (it's going back due to a new amendment added yesterday) and Wolf will sign it
most think it will finally go through this time.

It's a flawed bill imo, there are too many restrictions as to which patients with types of ailments will have access to it, no smoking of weed is legal as only oils, pills and salves can be sold. So that means the patient will have to vape, add it to food, take it direct orally or rub it on. There is also a THC limit. (to be fair the CBD is the part that helps most with pain and other issues). Despite the flaws, this will be of help to many PA residents.

Personally this will be great for my wife who has MS and suffers every night from neurological pain. Weed helps more than any of the meds she takes like Gabapentin and Topamax. She doesn't like getting stoned every night of the week so she takes small tokes to help prevent feeling whacked but still get enough relief, and we seek out weed that has higher CBD. A quarter can last her up to 4 months sometimes. Being able to access higher CBD, low THC product legally will be a great boon for her.

the bill is terrible in relation to other states but better than nothing. it was created to have little to no controversy and an easy ride to pass to help people.

agreed, but as I said I am at least grateful that my wife can finally get relief without being a criminal

I think a "state win" matters because the media talks about it. And not a miniscule number of people in later elections will vote for whom they think the "winner" is. Call it Christie syndrome

I think that this will fade quickly when upcoming states go 43 Trump, 35 Cruz, 22 Kasich.

A few weeks ago Trump's ceiling seemed to be mid-30's. Now it seems to be low 40's. With Rubio out, what's the consensus of where Trump's numbers go?

If your comprehension were sharper, you'd have caught my point that this has been going on for decades. Big communities - like Detroit. Small communities, like Morrisville PA lost its manunfacturing plants in the 70s. Never been the same. Then, as now, U-haul is the best solution.

I imagine you're under 30 and thinking all this stuff never happened before. As long as the US sits atop the world's economies, there will be jobs that move to cheaper labor elsewhere.

Rubio & Cruz making this somehow a religious quest makes me ill. Rubio saying God does not will his candidacy at this time is nuts. I am sure that God does not care at all. Cruz talking like a crusader is terrifying, but I also think he is disingenuous as it comes off as total pandering to an audience. Let's look at successful representatives of God as leaders of functional countries and you find a lot of long bead kings.the Pope might be your remaining star if you want him as governing official over the Vatican, but he is a better religious leaders (disclaimer, I am not Catholic so I view him as a solid leader of his religious strand, not a direct line to God).

So now that Rubio should go to work on DC, someone can reorient him to his office and duties, should he also assume that he was wrong about God's will? His place in religion? Maybe he should start a church, or become a a televangelist. Cruz should take notes.

Come on third party candidate.

you'd think if Romney's speech had an impact anywhere, it was Utah. I'd think Trump loses there too

1) I'm 32, so close enough.
2) Age has no relevance when it comes to understanding history. Creative destruction is part of any economy.
3) U-Haul isn't always a possibility for everyone. Nothing is as simple as you want to believe it is.

Also, the point you've continuously been unwilling to address is the naked contempt GOP elites have had for the impoverished rabble they've catered to for decades while simultaneously pushing legislation that exacerbates the problems said communities are having.

“[Obama] could easily name Merrick Garland, who is a fine man,” Orrin Hatch told the conservative news site Newsmax, before adding that “he probably won’t do that because this appointment is about the election. So I’m pretty sure he’ll name someone the [liberal Democratic base] wants.”

liberals may go crazy but this makes sense. he wants to actually get someone on the court. shit has to get done. i disagree with the guy on a few things but he's eminently qualified.

would open a slot on the DC court, too.
