Strongman competition results thread aka politics

I don't think Trump is likely to turn into a mass murderer and I would hope he's not going to start a world war, but the comparison to the 1933-1939 Hitler/Nazi years is otherwise more than a bit too close for comfort.

I could be wrong but based on what I read about Hitler, he made it about the economy too in the 30's. Trump constantly claiming that Americans are angry because of the economy is frighteningly similar.

correct

butttt, if we're being honest, it's entirely possible that in 1930-whatever Hitler had no intention of baking millions of nice people, either.

Point is they're both sociopath narcissists with unresolved daddy issues that ran similar campaigns

If I had to throw the Hitler bomb on someone it would be Cruz. He just isn't running in front so people think it is clever to use it on Trump. Calling a person you think is dumb a "dumb fuck" works too.

Whatever, I hope Bernie wins. I would have voted for Romney.

So Boehner endorsed Paul Ryan, which is pretty funny I guess.

He may not have not yet conceived that fine points of The Final Solution but he made his feelings about the Jews pretty clear many years before in Mein Kampf.

Sorry, Willy, there are legitimate comparisons to be drawn between Trump and other fascist campaigns.

Read the Vox article on Authoritarianism: http://www.vox.com/2016/3/1/11127424/tr ... itarianism

The President of Mexico likened him to Hitler & Mussolini

A professor who wrote a book on fascism thinks, hmmm: http://www.democracynow.org/2016/3/15/f ... nald_trump

it's not just mindless internet shit at this juncture

He has stated that he would kill the families of terrorists. I'm not sure how many of them he would have to kill in order to be counted as a mass murderer, though.

We would all hope that he's not going to start a world war but I think there is a better chance of him unintentionally starting it than Hillary or Bernie.

Pretty much. Post WWI German economy was decimated by the Geneva Convention. But he did campaign heavily on the effects on the military as well.

While I am not going to write a think piece on the Trump phenomenon as I believe we already have enough of those, if I were to write one it would be on the theme of Trump as a political emetic. I like the way the phrase "political emetic" sticks in the mouth with all the alliterative hard consonants.

Anyway, it would be an optimistic piece.

POLITICO is far from alone among media organizations being denied entry to Trump events. The Des Moines Register, Univision, Fusion, The Huffington Post, National Review, Mother Jones and BuzzFeed have all been denied credentials to Trump's events, often after publishing critical stories about the campaign. In January, New York Times reporter Trip Gabriel was ejected from an event in Iowa after writing about Trump's weak ground game in the state, which he eventually lost to Ted Cruz.

One group claiming their 1st Amendment rights are being trampled punishing another group for exercising theirs. I suppose this should not be a surprise considering the leader of the first group shouts from the rooftops about the indignity of manufacturing being shipped to China while simultaneously shipping the manufacturing of his clothing lines to China.

Franklin & Marshall should issue a poll within the next two weeks I would think. To think that Trump couldn't do well in PA is to deny what PA is, IMO.

36% isn't doing well enough. Kasich will surely garner more than 10% of the vote. drumpf is an abomination and if I have to beat him using only my mind, well, that's what I'll do
